Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include inductors. The inductors may include an on-chip three-dimensional (3D) inductor. The 3D inductor may include a stack of windings in different metallization layers of the substrate. The 3D inductor may include at least one additional winding formed from at least one of the same metallization layers as the stack of windings. The at least one additional winding may laterally surround at least one of the windings from the stack of windings. The stack of windings may be vertically aligned or staggered. The at least one additional winding may be arranged in a vertically aligned stack or a staggered stack. Two or more stacks of windings may be separated by a winding between the stacks. The inductor may occupy a minimal amount of area while minimizing fringing capacitance, thereby optimizing quality factor and self-resonance frequency.

Abstract: This case is directed to supporting LB/LB, LB/MB, LB/HB and MB/HB carrier aggregation while reducing the area consumed on a transceiver and reducing power consumed on the transceiver. In some cases, four supporting such carrier aggregation may include implementing four separate radio frequency mixer chains. However, implementing four separate mixer chains may consume excessive area on the transceiver and may result in excessive transceiver power consumption. By leveraging the fact that HB LO frequency ranges overlap with LB LO frequency ranges, a dual-band gain stage may be implemented such that an LB/HB mixer may share a single LO signal (e.g., so as to provide a dual-band matching network that may provide impedance matching at LB and HB frequencies) without extending an original LB LO signal bandwidth. The dual-band gain stage may reduce space and power consumed on the transceiver while maintaining support for LB/LB, LB/MB, LB/HB and MB/HB carrier aggregation.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to an amplifier with improved linearity compared to other amplifiers. The amplifier may include auxiliary active circuitry to reduce amplitude and/or phase non-linearity of a single-ended or differential common-source amplifier when generating amplified signals. As such, the amplifier may output the amplified signals having an output power across a range of output powers with improved linearity. For example, the amplifier may output the amplified signals with improved linearity when operating at a normal power mode and a power back-off mode. The auxiliary active circuitry may include common-gate amplifiers cross coupled with the common-source amplifiers.

Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry having an on-chip transformer. The transformer may convey a radio-frequency signal and may include a primary coil and a secondary coil. The primary coil may have a center tap. A distributed capacitor array (DCA) may be coupled to the primary coil around the center tap. The DCA may include switchable capacitors coupled in parallel between ground and points on the primary coil on either side of the center tap. When active, each switchable capacitor contributes a different weighting to the operation of the transformer based on its distance from the center tap. A set of one or more of the switchable capacitors may be activated to contribute an asymmetric weighting to the operation of the transformer that mitigates process-related asymmetry in the transformer. This may serve to mitigate undesired common mode to direct mode signal conversion by the transformer.
