    Abstract: This disclosure provides techniques for recovery techniques to address link failure in multi-hop backhaul relay network. For example, a central unit (CU) node receives, uplink transmissions originating from a user equipment (UE) via a backhaul relay including a first distributed unit (DU) node and a second DU node. The CU then receives a first UL status message associated with a link failure between the first DU node the second DU node. Then the CU generates a second UL status message indicating a sequence number (SN) of a lost packet caused by the link failure or a SN of a last successfully received packet before the link failure, and transmits the second UL status message to the first DU node.

The method includes encoding one or more packets each comprising a PDCP data unit. The encoding of at least one of the one or more packets includes applying a function to data in the packet, the function including the coding coefficient. The method includes generating a message comprising the at least one encoded packet. The method includes transmitting the message to a user equipment (UE).

    Abstract: Embodiments of an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) donor, IAB node, and methods of communication are generally described herein.     Abstract: Systems and methods of reducing control plane latency in a 5G IAB network are described. SRs transmitted between nodes indicate that a control plane PDU is to be transmitted. The SRs use periodic resources or OCCs reserved for control plane signaling and are initiated by an RRC message or RACH from the UE. The SRs are initiated if the LCD field in the MAC sub header of the RRC message indicates the CCCH or the DCCH logical channel. If the PDU is available after the original resource, a resource is used that is provided via another grant, which is periodically provided or automatically initiated due to failure to transmit on the original grant. The SR or RRC message can also specify a delayed timeslot for the grant. For contention-based procedures the RACH preamble is randomly selected or selected from among a set of RACH preambles assigned for RRC procedures.

    Abstract: Provided herein is an apparatus and a method for congestion handling in RAN. The disclosure provides an apparatus for a relay node in a RAN including the relay node and a donor node providing an interface to a core network and a backhaul link to the relay node. The apparatus includes a RF interface to receive and transmit downlink data for one or more UEs or UE bearers; and a processing circuitry coupled with the RF interface. The processing circuitry is to determine a downlink congestion occurs at the relay node; and generate a downlink congestion indication to identify a UE or a UE bearer or a backhaul RLC channel affected by the downlink congestion. The RF interface is to transmit the downlink congestion indication to the donor node. In addition to the downlink congestion handling, the relay node can also be to handle uplink congestion in a similar way.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods of handling user traffic in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network. For instance, a data counter for two or more of a plurality of user equipment (UE) bearers handled by an IAB node can be configured. Data corresponding to the two or more UE bearers of the plurality of UE bearers can be received. A first UE bearer can be selected. The first UE bearer is the UE bearer having the lowest data counter value of the two or more UE bearers. Data corresponding to the first UE bearer can be transferred to a mobile terminal (MT) in the IAB node. The data counter for the first UE bearer can be increased by a total size of the transferred data.
