Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for a wireless device to detect and operate in an elevator or elevator-like conditions. The wireless device may establish a cellular link with a cellular base station. One or more conditions associated with being in an elevator may be detected. The wireless device may determine to operate in an elevator mode based at least in part on detecting the one or more conditions associated with being in an elevator. The wireless device may operate in the elevator mode. One or more conditions associated with exiting an elevator may be detected. The wireless device may determine to operate in a normal mode based at least in part on detecting the one or more conditions associated with exiting an elevator. The wireless device may operate in the normal mode.

Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with first and second receivers. Each receiver may include circuitry for receiving radio-frequency signals using a first radio access technology (RAT) and using second or additional RATs. The wireless circuitry may perform system selection in which the receivers attempt to acquire a signal transmitted by a base station using different RATs. The first receiver and the second receiver may concurrently perform system selection in which the first receiver performs a band scan over the first RAT while the second receiver concurrently performs a band scan over a second or additional RAT. Additional band scans may be performed as needed until a signal is acquired. Once a signal is acquired, the wireless circuitry may establish cellular communications with the wireless base station based on the acquired signal. This may minimize the amount of time required to begin cellular telephone communications in many situations.

Abstract: A device, system, and method adaptively adjusts uplink power transmission to component carriers in carrier aggregation. The method is performed at a user equipment configured with a carrier aggregation functionality including a primary component carrier (PCC) and a secondary component carrier (SCC), the UE using a first transmit power for an uplink transmission on the PCC and using a second transmit power for the uplink transmission on the SCC. The method includes determining whether a total transmit power including the first and second transmit powers for the uplink transmission exceeds a predetermined threshold. The method includes, when the total transmit power exceeds the predetermined threshold, adjusting the first transmit power based on a connectivity parameter for the PCC. The method includes adjusting the second transmit power based on the adjusting of the first transmit power.
