A self-powered ECG monitor with conventional surface electrodes transceives signals from and to a programmer provided with a radio frequency transceiver to eliminate hardwiring between the surface electrodes and the programmer. The system reduces the need for supply line frequency filtering and isolation circuitry to protect against high voltage defibrillation shocks.

    摘要: A method and assembly for selectively actuating features of implanted medical devices with a magneto-static field. The method includes selectively exposing the implanted device to a static magnetic field source, selectively shielding the magnetic field source, and distancing the shielded magnetic field source from the medical device. One version of the assembly includes a permanent magnet and a displaceable shield assembly that shields the magnetic field generated by the magnet in one configuration and is displaceable to a second configuration wherein the magnetic field is at least partially exposed. In another version, the assembly is an electromagnet that can be selectively activated and deactivated. The electromagnet generates minimal magnet field when it is off.

    摘要: A universal cable connector for detachably connecting a stimulation lead to a system analyzer includes a nonconductive connector block for releasably receiving and holding fixed a proximate contact electrically in continuity with a distal electrode, a cable for selectively electrically interconnecting the proximate contact and the system analyzer, and a switch mechanism for selectively connecting electrically the system analyzer cable with the proximate contact thereby enabling the system analyzer to determine the efficacy of the chosen body tissue site. The connector block includes a nest region for receiving the proximal end of the lead and the switch mechanism includes a switch contact electrically engaged with the cable and movable between a first position disengaged from an associated and selected exposed proximate contact and a second position engaged with the proximate contact for electrically connecting the distal electrode to the system analyzer.

    摘要: A programmer system for implantable devices including a programmer and a telemetry wand joined by a telemetry cable or via wireless. The telemetry wand includes at least partial display and control functionality for the system. The telemetry wand and telemetry cable are encapsulated to facilitate ready sterilization of the same and may be removably connected to the programmer. The system enables a clinician to remain within a sterile field, such as during an implantation procedure, and employ the programmer system while maintaining the sterile field without requiring that the entire programmer system be sterilized.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a shield for shielding a telemetry wand from electromagnetical interference capable of interfering with telemetry communications between the telemetry wand and an AIMD in a patient. The telemetry wand may include a first side that is configured to be placed against a patient, a second side generally opposite the first side, a lateral side between the first and second sides, a hole extending between the first and second sides, and a cable extending from the lateral side. The shield may include a shell including a wall that defines a volume and an opening in the shell. The volume may be configured to receive therein the telemetry wand such that the second and lateral sides of the telemetry wand face respective portions of the wall and the first side faces the opening in the shell.
