摘要： A steering wheel having a ring portion, a boss portion arranged at the center of the ring portion, and a spoke portion connecting the boss portion with the ring portion, and in which the boss portion includes a boss and a boss plate, the boss having non-circular surfaces formed on the outer peripheral surface of the boss, the boss plate being connected with the spoke portion and with the upper surface of the boss by resistance welding and having flexible portions and restricting projections located around the center of the boss. The flexible portions provide an energy absorbing function and non-circular surfaces of the boss and the restricting projections of the boss plate prevent rotation of the boss plate relative to the boss when the welding portion happens to break.

摘要： An air bag device comprises at the center a bag provided with a gas flowing orifice, a pad for receiving the bag in its folded state, an inflator arranged so as to permit gas to be jetted toward the gas flowing orifice of the bag and an inflator insertion hole into which a holding cylinder below the inflator can be inserted and further provided with a retainer for holding the inflator and the bag in their inner periphery and the pad in its outer periphery. The air bag device further includes a holding cloth surrounding the lower holding cylinder of the inflator and formed continuously below the gas flowing orifice of the bag, and a coupling is formed between the peripheral surface of the inflator and peripheral edge of the inflator insertion hole of the retainer.

The framework includes an annular grip core, spoke cores extending inward from the grip core, a boss plate fixed on a steering shaft, and a frame located inside the grip core to connect the spoke cores. The steering wheel further includes a pad located in the grip core, an air bag device, and inserts embedded in the pad. The inserts include portions that are attached to the frame. The inserts prevent the pad from scattering when the air bag device is activated.

摘要： A steering wheel mounted on a steering shaft with a boss plate. The steering wheel has a gripping ring for manually turning a steering shaft. The steering wheel includes a metal ring core embedded in the gripping ring and connecting pieces formed integrally with the boss plate. Spoke cores extend between the ring core and the connecting pieces and each has a first end coupled to the ring core and a second end overlapping one of the connecting pieces. A fastener fastens together the spoke cores and connecting pieces at the second end of each spoke core.

摘要： An air bag device is arranged at an upper portion of a steering wheel body, and horn switch mechanisms are arranged between a mandrel of the steering wheel body and a bag holder of the air bag device. The mandrel comprises a plurality of brackets each having an engaging member which is opened at a lower portion thereof and which extends horizontally. Upward movement of the bag holder is restricted by mounting screws threadedly engaged with mounting holes in the bag holder, the screws extend from below the engaging members of the brackets. The bag holder is retained by the mandrel in a manner to be movable downwardly.

摘要： A steering wheel disposed in such a manner that an impact energy absorbing member made of sheet metal and having an upper wall portion and side walls extending downward from the two longitudinal end portions of the upper wall is fastened to the upper surface fo a boss portion and a pad is fitted to cover the impact energy absorbing member. The pad is provided with projecting portions made of a rigid synthetic resin, which are brought into contact with the portion adjacent to the two longitudinal ends of the upper wall of the energy absorbing member, formed on the reverse side of the upper wall of the pad. When impact force acts, from a substantially upper portion, on the central portion of the upper wall of the pad, the projecting portions assuredly crush the side walls of the energy absorbing member. As a result, impact energy can be assuredly absorbed.

摘要： A steering wheel for vehicles includes a metal ring core connected to a steering shaft by a boss plate and at least one spoke core. The ring core and the spoke core are covered with surface layers. A pad is arranged above the boss plate and at the center of the ring core. The pad is formed integrally with the surface layers. An air bag device is arranged between the pad and the boss plate to protect the driver of a vehicle when an impact is applied to the vehicle. The air bag device is supported by a holder which is connected to the spoke cores. The holder includes a mechanism for absorbing load that is applied to the steering wheel.
