Abstract: An active infrared system may include at least one metamaterial optical element. The active infrared system may also include at least one lens assembly optically aligned with the at least one metamaterial optical element. The active infrared system may also include at least one active camera optically aligned with the at least one metamaterial optical element. The at least one metamaterial optical element of the active infrared system may also be configured with at least a reflection mode for reflecting at least one light waveband reflected by a remote object and a transmission mode for transmitting a uniform background light that is wider than the at least one light waveband reflected by the remote object.

Abstract: The system and method for combining two optical assemblies into the same volume, particularly when the field of view of the two assemblies are different, so that the overall volume and size, weight and power (SWaP) for the system is reduced. This also allows both subsystems (e.g., narrow field of view (NFOV) and wide field of view (WFOV) to use a single aperture and the same external protective window, reducing overall cost for a system of co-located dissimilar optical systems in a single aperture.

Abstract: An off-axis optical system having a rectangular aperture stop to control rays of incident electromagnetic radiation passing through the optical system along an optical path is provided. The optical system includes one or more optical surfaces along the optical path, each surface being configured to change a direction of each ray on the surface based on a location of the ray relative to the surface. At least one of the surfaces is conjugate to and has the same shape as the rectangular aperture stop. In one embodiment, each optical surface is shaped to avoid vignetting the rays. In one embodiment, the optical system is a three-mirror anastigmat (TMA) and includes a concave primary mirror to collect and focus the electromagnetic radiation; a curved secondary mirror to reflect the electromagnetic radiation focused by the primary mirror; and a concave tertiary mirror to focus the electromagnetic radiation reflected by the secondary mirror.

Abstract: A luminescent diode surface within the cold shield of an infrared camera to allow for continuous non-uniformity correction with uniform irradiance across an infrared IR detector array. Further provided by the inclusion of a luminescent diode surface within the cold shield paneling is the ability to change the diode bias providing a negative luminescent effect while utilizing reverse bias and an electro-luminescent effect while utilizing a forward bias. This may then further allow for multiple set points to provide continuous offset and gain correction and to correct non-linear response effects.

Abstract: Systems and methods related to pre-processing images and estimating PSFs for image deblurring in a noise-robust manner. The pre-processing may include iteratively denoising a reference image, iteratively denoising a scene image containing at least one straight edge within the scene image while preserving the at least one straight edge. The pre-processing may include smoothing, subtracting and dividing to provide a pre-processed image. The PSF-estimation process may include generating, with the at least one processor, a first noise value from portions of an edge intensity profile, generating a second noise value from a difference between the edge intensity profile and an integral of the noise-regularized inversion of the integration operator operating on the edge intensity profile and determining a value of a local curvature regularization parameter resulting in the first noise value and the second noise value being within a tolerance range.
