Abstract: An improved process for the production of Alpha chlorocarboxylic acid chlorides by reaction of a carboxylic acid chloride with chlorine at elevated temperature, wherein the improvement consists in carrying out the reaction in the presence of sulfuric acid. Alpha -chlorocarboxylic acid chlorides are suitable for the production of plant protection agents.
