Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a polymer or of a cosmetic product comprising said polymer, and additionally other known cosmetic ingredients, to bring about an anti-pollution effect on human skin or on human hair, especially to protect human skin or human hair from dust, wherein the polymer is a cationic, anionic or non-ionic polymer, and wherein the polymer has a solubility in water of at least 0.01 g of polymer in 100 g of water at 20° C. at least at a pH in the range between 4 and 9.
