Abstract: A process for the preparation of the ether of formula I where R1 and R2 independently from one another are hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 10 C atoms, R3 is an alkyl group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms and X is a bond or a hydrocarbon group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms comprising a) deprotonating the amino alcohol of formula II where R1, R2 and X have the meaning above with a metal as deprotonating agent to give the anion of formula III where R1, R2 and X have the meaning above and b) alkylation of the anion obtained in step a) with an alkylation agent to give the ether of formula I.
