Abstract: A process for the production of an Alpha - omega -dialdehyde, comprising reacting a cyclic mono-olefin in the gaseous phase with oxygen at an elevated temperature. Preferably cyclopentene or cyclohexene respectively give glutardialdehyde and adipic dialdehyde by passage through a tubular reactor with air at 0.05 to 100 atmospheres and 200* to 500*C.
