Abstract:
Reacting (optionally mono or di halo or alkyl -substituted) phenols, at least one ortho- or para- position to the hydroxy group of which is unsubstituted, with cyclopentadiene in the presence of an aluminum phenolate as catalyst, at a temperature of substantially between about 40*-120* C, to form in high yield and purity the corresponding known (optionally mono or di halo or alkyl -substituted)-ortho or para-cyclopent-2-enyl phenols, which are known intermediates usable for the synthesis of known insecticides.
Abstract:
A process for the production of an Alpha - omega -dialdehyde, comprising reacting a cyclic mono-olefin in the gaseous phase with oxygen at an elevated temperature. Preferably cyclopentene or cyclohexene respectively give glutardialdehyde and adipic dialdehyde by passage through a tubular reactor with air at 0.05 to 100 atmospheres and 200* to 500*C.
Abstract:
2,3-DDIMETHYL-2,3-BIS-(4-NITRO PHENYL)-BUTANE IS OBTAINED BY HEATING 4-NITROCUMENE IN A POLAR ORGANIC SOLVENT (E.G. DIMETHYLSULFOXIDE) IN THE PRESENCE OF A BASIC COMPOUND (E.G. SOLIUMHYDROXIDE) AND OF AN ALCOHOL WHICH IS RESISTANT TO OXIDATION (E.G. TERT. BUTANOL).
