Abstract: A hydraulic transmission for independently driving an agitator motor and a spin mechanism of an automatic washing machine with control mechanism for independently controlling the speed of each by using a manually adjustable rotary valve to establish the size of a variable-size orifice in the fluid exhaust line from the agitator motor and the spin mechanism to control the speed of same. The rotary valves are positioned in a stationary portion of the transmission to provide for connection to the manual adjustment means.
