Abstract: A medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a lumen extending to a distal end of the elongate shaft, wherein a proximal portion of the elongate shaft is configured to disengage from a distal portion of the elongate shaft; a medical device disposed proximate the distal end of the elongate shaft; a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft, wherein the release wire releasably attaches the medical device to the distal end of the elongate shaft; and an introducer sheath slidably disposed over the elongate shaft, wherein the introducer sheath is configured to disengage the proximal portion of the elongate shaft from the distal portion of the elongate shaft.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an elongate shaft for delivery of a medical device may include disposing a polymeric sheath having a lumen extending therethrough over a mandrel; sliding a proximal portion of the polymeric sheath into a lumen of a metallic tubular member; placing a polymeric tubular member over the distal portion of the polymeric sheath and a distal portion of the metallic tubular member; fixedly attaching a proximal coupler to a distal end of a longitudinal support filament; inserting a proximal end of the longitudinal support filament between the polymeric sheath and the polymeric tubular member to position the longitudinal support filament alongside the distal portion of the metallic tubular member and a distal portion of the polymeric sheath; and reflowing the polymeric tubular member to secure the longitudinal support filament relative to the polymeric sheath and the metallic tubular member.

Abstract: A medical device system may include a sheath, a pusher wire, and a locking element. The pusher wire may be slidably disposed within a lumen of the sheath. The locking element may have a proximal end, a distal end, an intermediate region disposed between the proximal end and the distal end, and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The locking element may have a first inner diameter adjacent to the distal end and a second inner diameter adjacent to the proximal end, the second inner diameter smaller than the first outer diameter. The distal end region of the locking element may be configured to freely slide over the sheath and when a proximal end region of the locking element is disposed over the sheath, the locking element may be configured to depress the sheath radially inwards.

A proximal portion of the securement member may be configured to translate proximally away from the proximal end of the elongate shaft upon application of a proximally-directed force to the proximal portion of the securement member while the elongate shaft is maintained in a fixed position, wherein the proximal portion remains connected to the proximal end of the elongate shaft after proximal translation away from the proximal end of the elongate shaft.
