Abstract:
A method of optimizing an operation of a rotorcraft includes measuring actual usage of the tail rotor drive shaft during operation of the rotorcraft, the actual usage including at least a torque measurement. The method further includes a step of adjusting a life of the tail rotor drive shaft based upon the measuring of the actual usage. Another method of the present disclosure includes determining a main rotor mast torque by measuring a tail rotor drive shaft torque and deriving a main rotor mast torque by considering the measured tail rotor drive shaft torque and a total torque output of an engine. A system of the present disclosure is configured for determining the main rotor mast torque in part by measuring the tail rotor torque.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a system for assessing health of an aircraft includes a receiver, a flight spectrum analyzer, and a health assessment analyzer. The receiver receives, from an aircraft, a plurality of measurements associated with two or more flight parameters. The plurality of measurements includes measurements spanning at least one period of time. The flight spectrum analyzer determines, based on a comparison of the plurality of measurements to a plurality of flight spectrum definitions, an amount of time the aircraft spent in each flight spectrum of a plurality of flight spectrums during the at least one period of time. The health assessment analyzer assesses a change in health of the aircraft over the at least one period of time based on the determination of the amount of time the aircraft spent in each flight spectrum and a plurality of spectrum health profiles.

Abstract:
The present application relates to a system and method for providing real-time indications of economic impact of aircraft operations to an aircraft operator. The system and method allow the aircraft operator to reduce economic impact during flight of the aircraft. Such an analysis and cue to the aircraft operator allows the operator to make real-time changes during flight to reduce damage of life-limited aircraft components, thereby reducing the economic impact of aircraft operation that is directly associated with maintenance and component replacement. The system and method can also include pre-flight and post-flight analysis methods for reduction of economic impact of flight operations.

Abstract:
A system and method configured to monitor aircraft flight performance data. The system includes a wireless transmitter in data communication with an avionics system of the aircraft, a portable wireless transceiver associated with the wireless transmitter, and a wireless database associated with the wireless transmitter. The method includes sensing flight performance data with the sensor, transmitting sensed flight performance data to the wireless transmitter, wirelessly transmitting the sensed flight performance data to the wireless database, and monitoring flight performance data with a display operably associated with the wireless database.
