摘要:
Described are methods and devices for processing a signal transmitting symbols which are temporally spaced on symbol intervals. The signal may be tapped at fractional symbol intervals to provide a plurality of signal taps at the fractional symbol intervals. Each of a plurality of coefficients may be applied to a corresponding one of the signal taps to generate an equalized signal. For at least one of the signal taps, the corresponding coefficient may be updated no more frequently than once per symbol interval.

Disclosed are a system, method and device for generating an equalized signal from an input signal. Symbols in the equalized signal may be detected on each of a sequence of symbol intervals to recover a symbol value in the symbol interval. A feedback coefficient may be applied to a symbol value recovered in a previous symbol interval to generate the equalized signal in a current symbol interval. The feedback coefficient may be generated based, at least in part, on an estimated error associated with the equalized signal. The estimated error associated with the equalized output signal from among a plurality of candidate estimated error values.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a correlator unit that generates a set of correlator outputs and a codeword selector coupled to the set of correlator outputs to determine a received codeword therefrom. The correlator unit may have reference signals pre-compensated with intra-codeword interference.

Complex antennas weights for use in beamforming in a multiple-antenna system are determined based upon clear channel assessment (CCA) information in a wireless networking environment.

A multiple output transmitter is configured for transmitting a single input data stream over two or more spatial channels using OFDM signals. The transmitter includes a commutator to select bits from the single input data stream for two or more bit streams and two or more encoders each to encode bits of one of the bit streams. The commutator operates at a bit rate and sequentially provides the selected bits of the input data stream to the encoders. A spatial bit sequencer selects groups of encoded bits from each of the encoders and assigns individual bits of a selected group at the bit-rate to block permuters in a sequential manner to distribute bits from the selected group across the block permuters. The block permuters produce interleaved blocks of bits for an associated spatial stream. The commutator assigns bits of the input bit stream to more than one encoder to allow each encoder to operate at a lower rate.

The effects of interference are mitigated in a wireless system by estimating spatial characteristics of an interfering signal, and using those characteristics in the formation of a spatial equalizer.

A multicarrier transmitter performs bit-interleaving suitable for transmitting more than one spatial stream over a multicarrier communication channel. The multicarrier transmitter may include a bit-grouping shifter to shift QAM symbol-bit groupings of a spatial stream among subcarriers of the multicarrier communication signal, and a bit-position permuter to rotate bits among bit positions within subgroupings of the QAM symbol-bit groupings of the second spatial stream.
