Abstract: A solenoid actuator is provided including, a flux return tube, a pole piece having a pole piece shunt, and an armature assembly having a magnetic portion and a non-magnetic spacer. The solenoid actuator also includes two non-magnetic bearing strips for the armature assembly, wherein one of the bearing strip slides on the flux return tube, and a second bearing strip slides on the pole piece shunt.

Abstract: A solenoid-actuated valve includes a solenoid portion extending along a longitudinal axis. The solenoid portion includes a solenoid housing defining a solenoid interior, a coil, and an armature, with the armature being moveable along the longitudinal axis in response to energization of the coil. The solenoid-actuated valve also includes a valve portion coupled to the solenoid portion. The valve portion includes a valve member moveable by the armature. The solenoid-actuated valve further includes a valve filter disposed in the solenoid interior and/or coupled to the solenoid housing and configured to separate the solenoid interior from a hydraulic circuit when the valve portion is coupled to a valve housing for allowing fluid to flow into and out of the solenoid interior upon actuation of the armature.

Abstract: A high flow high pressure hydraulic solenoid valve (26) includes a proportional 5 solenoid (56) and a valve body (30) operatively associated with the solenoid (56). The valve body (30) has a valve bore (32) and at least two fluid ports (38, 40) for fluid communication with the valve bore (32), wherein one of the at least two fluid ports (38, 40) includes an undercut (38b, 40b). The high flow high pressure hydraulic solenoid valve (26) also includes a valve member (42) 10 axially and slidingly disposed within the valve bore (32). The valve member (42) has a plurality of valve elements (44) spaced axially along the valve member (42). At least one of the valve elements (44) has a metering face (76a, 76c) acting with the undercut (38b, 40b). The one of the at least two fluid ports (38, 40) has two openings (82) located approximately one hundred eighty (180) degrees from each other in the valve body (30) and the valve member (42) has a control 15 module port (49a) configured to be ninety degrees from the at least one fluid port to balance pressure on the valve member (42) during high flow conditions.

Abstract: A system and method for fast fill of a hydraulic accumulator used in an automatic transmission includes providing an active fast fill mechanism fluidly connected to a hydraulic accumulator and a hydraulic system of the automatic transmission, providing an electronic control module in communication with the active fast fill mechanism, activating, by the electronic control module, the active fast fill mechanism to allow the hydraulic accumulator to fill with fluid from the hydraulic system, filling, by the active fast fill mechanism, the hydraulic accumulator with fluid, and de-activating, by the electronic control module, the active fast fill mechanism to stop filling the hydraulic accumulator with fluid from the hydraulic system during stop/start engine events of a vehicle.
