Abstract: The life of an actuator such as a turbocharger VTG actuator is extended by reducing heat conduction from the turbine housing along the control linkage to the actuator link and into the actuator, thereby protecting sensitive electronic components. To this end, the control linkage may be made of a thermal energy retarding material in order to retard heat from the turbine housing assembly reaching the actuator.

In some implementations, turbine housings include a body that defines an inlet for fluid communication with a fluid source, and a wall, the wall dividing the inlet into an inner inlet and an outer inlet, and a fluid guide assembly disposed within the housing, the fluid guide assembly including a plurality of vanes that demarcate an inner volute and an outer volute within the housing, the inner volute being in fluid communication with the inner inlet and the outer volute being in fluid communication with the outer inlet, each vane of the plurality of vanes being fixed at a respective angle relative to a radial direction, the plurality of vanes guiding fluid flow from the outer volute to the inner volute.

Abstract: A variable-geometry turbocharger (1) with a vane lever (11) that provides a stop function at full open position of the guide vanes (8). The integrated vane-open stop controls the full open position of the VTG mechanism. A vane lever (11) preferably has an integrated protrusion (50) that functions as a vane-open stop that contacts an adjacent vane lever (11), an integrated bolt (56), or the upper vane ring (16) at the full open position to regulate maximum exhaust gas flow to the turbine wheel (5).
