Abstract: Various implementations include approaches for establishing a Bluetooth (BT) connection between devices. One example approach includes: in response to a trigger at a first BT device, attempting to determine a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of a second BT device paired to the first BT device, the second BT device having a highest priority on a list of one or more BT devices paired to the first BT device; in response to determining the RSSI for the second BT device, determining if the RSSI of the second BT device satisfies a threshold; and in response to determining that the RSSI of the second BT device satisfies the threshold, attempting to establish a BT connection between the first BT device and the second BT device.

Abstract: The technology described in this document can be embodied in a computer-implemented method of controlling a wearable audio device configured to provide an audio output. The method includes receiving data indicating the wearable audio device is proximate a geographic location associated with a plurality of localized audio messages, and presenting, using one or more user-interfaces, a representation of the plurality of localized audio messages. The method also includes receiving information indicative of a selection of a portion of the one or more user interfaces, and initiating playback of one or more of the plurality of localized audio messages that correspond to the selection, on the wearable audio device.

The method also includes, responsive to determining that the localized audio message has the higher priority, providing a prompt to initiate playback of the localized audio message with the higher priority to a user of the wearable audio device, and initiating playback of the localized audio message with the higher priority at the wearable audio device in response to actuation of the prompt by the user.

Abstract: An audio system attachable to a computer includes a sound reproduction device for producing audible sound from audio signals. The sound reproduction device includes a radio tuner and a powered speaker. The audio system further includes a connector for connecting the sound reproduction device with a computer. The computer provides audio signals from a plurality of sources, the sources including a computer CD player, digitally encoded computer files stored on the computer, and a computer network connected to the computer. The sound reproduction device further includes control buttons for controlling at least one of the computer CD player, the digitally encoded computer files and the computer network.

Abstract: A method is provided for directing a user to a point of interest using sounds played on a wearable audio output device. A user's direction of gaze is determined using data from at least one sensor in the audio output device. First and second locations are determined of the user and the point of interest respectively, and a distance is determined between the first and second locations. A relative angle between the direction of gaze and the direction of the point of interest is determined based on the determined first and second locations. A sample sound is altered using at least one sonification technique to convey information relating to the determined distance and the relative angle. The altered sample sound is rendered and output for playing by the audio output device.
