A method and device for detecting whether a headset is on ear. Microphone signals from a plurality of microphones are used to derive a plurality of signal feature measures, which are normalized to a common reference scale. The signal feature measures are weighted based upon detected signal conditions in the microphone signals. The normalized and variably weighted signal feature measures are then combined to produce an output indication of whether a headset is on ear.

The disclosure includes a headset comprising one or more earphones including one or more sensing components. The headset also includes one or more voice microphones to record a voice signal for voice transmission. The headset also includes a signal processor coupled to the earphones and the voice microphones. The signal processor is configured to employ the sensing components to determine a wearing position of the headset. The signal processor then selects a signal model for noise cancellation. The signal model is selected from a plurality of signal models based on the determined wearing position. The signal processor also applies the selected signal model to mitigate noise from the voice signal prior to voice transmission.

An audio output device controls the application of active noise cancellation (ANC) levels based on a current status of the device. The audio output device includes a communication interface configured to provide a wired or wireless connection to a playback device, a signal detector configured to detect an audio signal provided through the communication interface, an ANC module configured to apply a first-level ANC to the audio signal, and a control unit configured to determine a level of the ANC to be applied by the ANC module. Upon determining that the audio signal is not provided based on information provided from at least one of the communication interface or the signal detector, the control unit instructs the ANC module to perform a second-level ANC.

A method for cancelling ambient audio sounds in the proximity of a transducer may include receiving an error microphone signal indicative of the output of the transducer and ambient audio sounds at the transducer. The method may also include generating an anti-noise signal for countering the effects of ambient audio sounds at an acoustic output of the transducer, wherein generating the anti-noise signal comprises applying a feedback filter having a response that generates a feedback anti-noise signal based on the error microphone signal and applying a variable gain element in series with the feedback filter. The method may further include monitoring whether an ambient audio event is occurring that could cause the feedback filter to generate an undesirable component in the anti-noise signal and controlling the gain of the variable gain element to reduce the undesirable component.

A control signal filter 2 receives a sound source signal determined by a control frequency specified in accordance with the vibration/noise source that produces vibration/noise, and outputs a control signal. A filter coefficient update unit 4 updates coefficients of the control signal filter 2 in response to a sound source signal and an error signal. A disturbance detector 6 outputs a disturbance detection result in response to the error signal and an estimated secondary vibration/noise signal. An update controller 7 adjusts an update step of the filter coefficient update unit 4 in accordance with the disturbance detection result.

In accordance with methods and systems of the present disclosure, a processing circuit may implement at least one of: a feedback filter having a response that generates at least a portion of an anti-noise component from a playback corrected error, the playback corrected error based on a difference between the error microphone signal and a secondary path estimate; and a feedforward filter having a response that generates at least a portion of the anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal. The processing circuit may also implement a secondary path estimate filter configured to model an electro-acoustic path of a source audio signal and have a response that generates a secondary path estimate from the source audio signal and a secondary path estimate performance monitor for monitoring performance of the secondary path estimate filter in modeling the electro-acoustic path.
摘要:
A method for operating an active noise reduction system that is designed to reduce the harmonic or sinusoidal noise emanating from a rotating device, where there is an active noise reduction system input signal that is related to the frequency of the noise to be reduced, and where the active noise reduction system comprises one or more adaptive filters that output a generally sinusoidal noise reduction signal that is used to drive one or more transducers with their outputs directed to reduce the noise. Distortions of the noise reduction signal are detected. A distortion is based at least in part on differences between the frequency of the noise reduction signal and the frequency of the harmonic noise. The noise reduction signal is altered based on the detected distortion.

A personal audio device, such as a wireless telephone, includes noise canceling circuit that adaptively generates an anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal and injects the anti-noise signal into the speaker or other transducer output to cause cancellation of ambient audio sounds. An error microphone may also be provided proximate the speaker to estimate an electro-acoustical path from the noise canceling circuit through the transducer. A processing circuit uses the reference and/or error microphone, optionally along with a microphone provided for capturing near-end speech, to determine whether one of the reference or error microphones is obstructed by comparing their received signal content and takes action to avoid generation of erroneous anti-noise.

A personal audio device, such as a wireless telephone, includes noise canceling circuit that adaptively generates an anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal and injects the anti-noise signal into the speaker or other transducer output to cause cancellation of ambient audio sounds. A processing circuit monitors a level of the anti-noise signal, determines that the anti-noise signal may cause damage to the transducer and adjusts the generation of the anti-noise signal such that damage to the transducer is prevented.
