    摘要: A vial adapter suitable for use in transferring fluid from a vial to a needleless syringe, the vial having a top end sealed with a septum. According to one embodiment, the vial adapter comprises (a) a body, the body having a top end, a bottom end and an inner cavity, the inner cavity being dimensioned to receive the vial, with the bottom end of the body extending below the bottom end of the vial; (b) a needle-bearing member mounted within the body, the needle-bearing member comprising a hollow needle extending downwardly into the inner cavity of the body for puncturing the septum of a vial disposed in the inner cavity; (c) a luer-lock-bearing member mounted on the top end of the body, the luer-lock-bearing member comprising a top portion and a bottom portion separated by a radial wall, the top portion being a female luer-lock, the bottom portion including a tubular structure in fluid communication with the hollow needle; and (d) a valve disposed within the luer-lock-bearing member for controlling fluid flow from the bottom portion to the top portion, the valve being opened by attachment of the needleless syringe to the vial adapter.

In one embodiment, a spring mechanism is carried by first and second tubular members and actuatable for moving a needle from a first position disposed within the distal extremity of the first tubular member to a second position extending distally of the first tubular member. In another embodiment, a nozzle is coupled to the distal extremity of an elongate tubular member for delivering a material into tissue of the mammalian body. In a further embodiment, a flexible elongate member provided with a recess is introduced into a cavity of the body to capture tissue in the recess and electrical energy is applied to such tissue in the recess so as to change the compliance of the tissue.

    摘要: Described herein are various systems and methods for directing endoscopy instruments to varying positions at a target site. In one aspect, at least one instrument channel has multiple exit points at the distal end of the guide tube, and the position of an instrument delivered through the channel may be switched between the different exit points. In another aspect, an instrument channel splits into multiple branches at the distal end of the guide tube, and the position of an instrument at the target site may be changed by selectively directing the instrument into a different channel branch. In yet another aspect, the guide tube, or a portion thereof, may be rotated to reposition an instrument at the target site. The capability of changing the instrument positions during a procedure would enable a physician to examine or treat multiple target sites within an operative field, without necessitating the full retraction of the instruments or the guide tube from the operative field.

The actuating assembly may also be provided on a sleeve that may be selectively attached to the handle of the catheter or the physician operating the catheter, for example.
