Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-implemented medical method for monitoring a spatial position of a patient's body part, wherein at least one optimum spatial direction for a line of sight of a check x-ray-image is determined, that qualifies for quantifying a deviation of the spatial position of the patient's body part from a target spatial position for the patient's body part. The present invention further relates to a corresponding computer program and a corresponding medical system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a computer-implemented method which encompasses comparing the requirements for radiation therapy imposed by a patient's individual condition to the capabilities and requirements of different types of treatment machines to determine a suitable radiation treatment strategy including an identification of the treatment machine which shall be used and a treatment plan. Furthermore, a treatment plan is generated by simulating the envisaged radiation treatment. The type of treatment machine associated with a predetermined value for the sum of weights for all fields assigned to that treatment machine is determined as the treatment machine for treating the patient, and corresponding information is output detailing the treatment specifics such as radiation treatment parameters specifically suited for the patient target region tumor thereby reducing radiation exposure, efficient use of the machine and appropriate gating and tracking modes.

Abstract: A method of positioning a patient for a radiation treatment and/or of monitoring a position of a patient during a radiation treatment is provided. The method includes providing surface data acquired using a 3D surface scanner of a surface of at least a body part of the patient that is to be irradiated in a radiation treatment. The surface data are calibrated with respect to a relative position of the 3D surface scanner and an isocenter position of a radiation treatment apparatus. A beam path and/or frustum of a radiation beam is determined based on planning data for the radiation treatment and intersected with at least a part of the surface of the patient represented by the surface data. Further, at least a first portion of the patient's surface located inside the beam path and/or a second portion of the patient's surface located outside the beam path is calculated.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for setting up a patient for radiotherapy, wherein the patient is scanned prior to therapy in both, a free-breathing state and a DIBH-state for which the patient performs a so-called “deep inspiration breath-hold”. The obtained data is registered to a CT-dataset which forms the basis for a treatment plan. The patient is then set up with respect to a radiation treatment apparatus based on the data obtained for the free-breathing state.

Abstract: The inventive approach positionally determines a periodically moving structure of a patient's anatomy by acquiring one or more images of a periodically moving anatomical structure of interest. The exposure time of each image covers at least one whole motion cycle of the structure, such that each acquired image depicts at least one whole motion cycle.

Abstract: The present invention involves positionally identifying several anatomical structures of interest of a patient's anatomy on images which have been acquired at different points of time. For each anatomical structure a separate image fusion transformation between these images is performed. For at least one of the image fusion transformations it is then determined whether this transformation is within a predetermined threshold, wherein for this determination, at least one further image fusion transformation of another anatomical structure is taken into account.
