摘要: An apparatus for cutting hay, straw, or other agricultural materials is provided with an intake hopper which directs a supply of material to be cut into a holding chamber. The material in the holding chamber is separated from the material remaining in the intake hopper by a pair of separating blades, while an advancement plate pushes the material in the holding chamber toward a cutting grid. A sliding panel is pulled behind the advancement plate to prevent the material remaining in the intake hopper from falling behind the advancement plate. The material in the holding chamber is cut into shorter lengths as it is pressed through horizontal and vertical slicing blades of the cutting grid.

摘要: An apparatus for compressing and containing a material in an elastomeric net (26). The apparatus comprises a compression chamber (12), a material compressor (16), a holding chamber (18), a net expansion and placement mechanism (42), and a bale advance mechanism (20). The material compressor is coupled to the compression chamber to compress a selected amount of the fibrous material in a direction transverse to the general lay of the material within the compression chamber to form a compacted bale (10). The holding chamber has an outlet and an inlet coupled to the compression chamber. The holding chamber also has an axis defined by a line extending between the center of the inlet to the center of the outlet. The net expansion and placement mechanism is for receiving the net, stretching the net to obtain a cross-sectional shape that is slightly larger than that of the holding chamber, and placing the net over the holding chamber with one end of the net slightly extending beyond the outlet. The bale advance mechanism is coupled to the holding chamber and compression chamber. Its function is to advance the bale from the compression chamber to the holding chamber and through the holding chamber outlet such that the bale contacts the end of the net that extends beyond the outlet and pulls the net onto the bale when the bale advances through the outlet.

摘要: A compressed hay bale cutting and stacking system includes a compressed bale cutter and a stacker arranged to stack half-cut or quarter-cut bales in multi-tier stacks while maintaining slices of the bales in substantial alignment. The bale cutter is oriented to discharge the half-cut or quarter-cut bales as a unit at a predetermined elevation. The stacker has a table assembly and a pushoff assembly positioned to receive each bale as a unit from the bale cutter and automatically form a stack of at least 2 bale by 2 bale tiers. The table assembly has an elongate first platform movable vertically on the stacker frame between a raised position aligned with the bale cutter discharge to form a first row of bales and a lowered position for receiving a second row of bales, to accumulate a tier of stacked bales while maintaining the bales substantially aligned along their vertical sides. The pushoff assembly is mounted on the frame with a vertical pushoff plate adjacent the table assembly and is extendable across the platform when in the lowered position to sweep each tier of stacked bales off the platform to add it to a stack.
