    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include a jack stand. The stand may include one or more of: a housing, elongated support, engagement element, engagement element receiver, and a modulator. The housing may be adapted for receiving the elongated support. The elongated support may be configured for being associated with the housing, and may include one or more, e.g., a plurality of engagement element receivers. The plurality of receivers may be positioned sequentially along a length of the support and may be configured for receiving a portion an engagement element. The engagement element, therefore, may be adapted for removably engaging the engagement element receivers in sequential fashion, wherein the sequential engagement of the engagement element receivers by the engagement element causes the elongated support to move. The modulator may be associated to the engagement element and configured for modulating the engagement of the engagement element with the plurality of receivers.

    Abstract: A one-handed ratcheting C-clamp is provided. The C-clamp incorporates a spring loaded handle mechanically coupled to a ratcheting mechanism. The ratcheting mechanism has a plurality of gear teeth that engage the threads of a corresponding rod disposed through a hole formed in one section of the C-shaped C-clamp. The handle rotates the bidirectional ratchet such that the threaded rod is lowered or raised within the hole of the C-shaped C-clamp. A button located in the side of the handle may release the ratchet mechanism pawl to provide axial sliding engagement of the rod to a corresponding work piece. The handle and corresponding ratchet mechanism secure the rod against the work piece. Further tightening engagement of the work piece is accomplished via a lever located on a top portion of the rod.

    Abstract: A self-adjusting pliers is operable to grasp a workpiece between an upper jaw and a lower jaw. The pliers includes an upper arm having the upper jaw and a lower arm, with the lower jaw linked to the lower arm but not integral with the lower arm. A control arm has a first end and a second end. The first end of the control arm has a first pivotable connection to the upper arm adjacent to an end of the upper arm remote from the upper jaw, and the second end of the control arm has a second pivotable connection to the lower arm at an intermediate location along the length of the lower arm. An upper control arm pivot pin provides the pivotable connection between the first end of the control arm and the upper arm, and a spring biases the control arm so as to resist rotation of the control arm about the upper control arm pivot pin. A support extends downwardly from the upper arm toward the lower arm and has a guide thereon. The lower jaw slidably engages the guide such that the lower jaw is constrained to follow the guide when the lower arm is pivoted about the upper control arm pivot pin.
