Abstract: Disclosed herein are flexible energy absorbing systems and methods of manufacturing flexible energy absorbing systems. The systems include one or more cells of a strain rate sensitive material and having a re-entrant geometry. Some of the systems have an anisotropic geometry to provide a different response to impacts from different directions.

Abstract: In devices with flexible displays, multilayer adhesive stacks may be included. A multilayer adhesive may attach a flexible display panel to the display cover layer in an electronic device. Including multiple layers of adhesive in the adhesive stack (as opposed to a single layer) provides more degrees of freedom for the tuning and optimization of the properties of the adhesive stack. The multilayer adhesive stack therefore has better performance than if only a single layer of adhesive is used. The multilayer adhesive stack may include one or more layers of soft adhesive, hard adhesive, hard elastomer, hard polymer, and/or glass to optimize the mechanical and optical performance of the multilayer adhesive stack. Soft adhesive layers may be included to optimize lateral decoupling (e.g., during folding and unfolding) of the adhesive stack. Harder layers may be included to provide rigidity and prevent denting during impact events.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring object placement on a surface. The system includes a pressure-sensitive conductive sheet. The pressure-sensitive conductive sheet includes a stretchable fabric, having a plurality of fibers, and a conductive material positioned on a plurality of adjoining fibers of the stretchable fabric. The system further includes a 3-dimensional structure positioned under the pressure-sensitive conductive sheet. The 3-dimensional structure includes one or more depressions onto which the stretchable fabric can be stretched and the conductive material is positioned over the one or more depressions.

Abstract: Various devices, assemblies, components, systems, and methods are provided relating to a waist padding assembly. An example assembly may include a center portion and two side portions. The center portion may comprise a porous ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) material and configured to contact a back of a user. The center portion may further comprise a warp mesh material and a 3D spacer fabric. The EVA material may comprise a plurality of holes to assist with the breathability of a waist padding assembly. The two side portions may be configured to secure to respective opposite sides of the center portion. The two side portions may comprise a polyurethane foam material configured to contact the flanks of the user.

Abstract: A fabric or belt for a papermaking machine including a first layer that defines a web contacting surface and a second layer that supports the first layer. The first layer is made of extruded polymer and includes a plurality of first elements aligned in a first direction, a plurality of second elements aligned in a second direction and extending over the plurality of first elements, and a plurality of open portions defined by the plurality of first and second elements. The second layer is made of woven fabric. The first layer is bonded to the second layer so that the first layer extends only partially through the second layer and an interface formed between the first and second layers includes bonded and unbonded portions and airflow channels that extend in a plane parallel to the first and second layers.

Abstract: Vented weather resistant barrier panels are disclosed that facilitate the removal of volatile organic compounds or other gases. The vented weather resistant barrier panels have a panel with a first side formed with a plurality of channels and covered with a non-perforated barrier to form a flow path. In some embodiments, the barrier is formed from a foil layer and a carrier layer. When installed on a structure, the vented weather resistant barrier panels form a flow path from inside the wall of the structure, through the channels, and through a first or second end of each channel to allow for ventilation of the structure. Methods of ventilating a structure using vented weather resistant barrier panels and of manufacturing vented weather resistant barrier panels are also disclosed.

Abstract: A pipe insulation product including a core of insulating material and a laminate surrounding the core and bonded to the core. The core may include an outer surface; an inner surface; and a wall extending between the outer and inner surfaces. The laminate may include a foil or metallized polymeric film sheet, a scrim, a porous media sheet, and a polymeric film sheet bonded together via an adhesive. The laminate may include a closure flap that is configured to adhesively seal opposite ends of the laminate together to form a cylindrical tube with the core enclosed therein. The closure flap may be configured to include a curl that provides a greater closure flap adhesive seal.

Abstract: A composite foam article is disclosed herein. The composite foam article comprises a polyurethane foam core presenting a first surface and a second surface facing opposite the first surface. A first skin is disposed on the first surface and a second skin is disposed on the second surface. The polyurethane foam core has a density of 15-80 kg/m3. The first and second skins comprise a plurality of fibers and a polymeric binder. The composite foam article has a weight per unit area of 500-1000 g/m2 and a strength of greater than 17 N at a post-compression thickness of greater than 2 mm when tested in according with SAE J949 at 23° C.
