    摘要: A composite wastewater sampler includes a flow-through-chamber having an inlet port and an outlet port with a path between them that gradually increases in depth and width and then decreases in width. It is shaped to cause fluid to: (1) flow from the inlet port; (2) drop to a lower level of flow within the flow-through-chamber; (3) gradually adjust in cross-sectional shape to the outlet port; and (4) flow back into a wastewater pipe. A sampling nozzle extends into the flow-through-chamber adjacent to the inlet port and within the path of the downwardly flowing wastewater so that wastewater exiting the port contacts the nozzle and flows downwardly across it.

    摘要: A proportional audio power demand system has a plurality of speaker banks and a plurality of amplifiers. Each speaker bank has at least one speaker. The system also has at least one audio channel and each amplifier and speaker bank can be selectively coupled to the audio channel. The system includes a controller which causes at least one amplifier and speaker bank to be coupled to the channel. The system also includes a sensor which senses the power output of the amplifier. The sensor is coupled to the amplifier and controller and the controller responds to the sensed power output of the amplifier to determine when to cause an additional amplifier to be coupled to the channel.

    摘要: A life safety system for monitoring a building has a plurality of detectors for detecting alarm conditions located throughout the building, a plurality of speakers located throughout the building, a source of pre-stored voice messages which can be broadcast over the speakers, and a telephone network. The improvement is a voice synthesizer for providing the source of pre-stored voice messages and a constant volume telephone system. The constant volume telephone system has a telephone line and a plurality of telephones which can be connected to the telephone line, and a power supply having an adjustable output voltage which provides the voltage for the telephone line. A sensing and adjusting circuit senses the number of telephones off-hook and causes the power supply to be adjusted in response to the number of telephones off-hook.

    摘要: A detection system having sending units for sending data signals representative of a condition, such as fire, smoke, intrusion, battery condition, or an emergency, to a central receiving unit. The sending units include a microcomputer which generates a pseudo-random number, waits for a number of cycle periods equal to the pseudo-random number, then activates a transmitter to send a data signal to the receiving unit. The randomized transmission prevents the synchronized clashing of transmitters.
