摘要： A user-initiated fluid pathway connection includes: a connection hub, a piercing member, a sterile sleeve, and a drug container having a cap, a pierceable seal, a barrel, and a plunger seal, wherein the piercing member is initially retained within the sterile sleeve between the connection hub and the pierceable seal of the drug container. The connection hub may include an internal aperture within the connection hub which functions as a flow restrictor and wherein a piercing member is connected to one end of the internal aperture and a fluid conduit is connected to another end of the internal aperture. A drug delivery pump with integrated sterility maintenance features includes a housing, upon which an activation mechanism, an insertion mechanism, a fluid pathway connection as described above, a power and control system, and a drive mechanism connected to a drug container are mounted. Methods of assembly and operation are also provided.

摘要： A photofinishing system and method for utilizing otherwise wasted space on a sheet of photographic paper. The system includes a printer such as an ink jet printer, laser printer or digital silver-halide system for printing a set of desired images on a larger sheet of photographic paper. The system nests the images on the larger sheet so as to minimize wasted space. The amount of wasted space is determined and, if the space is large enough, the system prints an extra image in the space. The extra image can comprise a diagnostic pattern, promotional literature or an additional copy of at least one of the desired images.

摘要： A buffer for transporting a flexible work piece such as a printed sheet between a first and a second workstation having different operational speeds. The buffer has drive rollers arranged along a path of travel from the outlet of the first station to the inlet of the second for moving the work piece through the buffer at a constant speed that may be different than the operational speeds of the workstations. A slip clutch limits the torque applied by the drive rollers should the constant speed of the buffer be greater than the speed at which the sheet is moving through the first work station and a one-way clutch allows the drive rollers to overrun a drive shaft to permit the sheet to move into and out of the buffer at a speed greater than the constant speed.

摘要： To assemble a printer chassis comprising three structural aluminium beams extending between two structural sideplates, the printer carriage beam is first attached to the sideplates by means of attachment points arranged along a straight line and then the printing beam and lower beam are attached to provide a vibration- and deformation-resistant chassis relative to which all the other printer components are referenced. Slider rods are mounted on the printer carriage beam by means of screws which hold the rods against the beam to keep them straight. The screws also pass through apertures in rod supports, the apertures being sized to permit longitudinal thermal movements of the rods relative to the beam.

摘要： A tool and a method for adjusting a space between a printhead in a print cartridge and a platen in an ink jet printer are disclosed. The shape of the tool mimics the shape of a print cartridge. The tool is inserted into an aperture in a carriage in place of the print cartridge whose printhead is the closest to the platen, or, if all of the printheads are equally close to the platen, then the tool may be inserted in place of any of the print cartridges. The tool includes a thin flexible member that extends toward the platen. The length of the member is such that, when the tool is properly inserted into the aperture and contacts the platen, then the printhead to platen spacing at that point on the platen would be just equal to a minimum acceptable spacing between a printhead in the same aperture and the platen. Contact between the member of the tool and the platen is detected by listening for a scraping sound caused by such contact and/or watching for flexure of the member caused by such contact while moving the carriage laterally. Subsequently, the height of the carriage relative to the platen is gradually adjusted until no sound or flexure is detected as the carriage moves along the platen. Subsequently, the tool is removed and a print cartridge is inserted into the aperture so that printing may commence.

摘要： A method providing for the exercise of one or more nozzles of an inkjet print head and simultaneously forming fiducial registration marks on a sheet of print medium. The exercising and forming of the fiducial registration marks both occur in the course of forming inkjet printed images on the sheet of print medium so that the prints and fiducial marks are in registry. Preferably exercising of the nozzles occurs at the beginning and end of each pass of the print head so that there are two such fiducial marks, one along each lateral edge of the image. A segment of a print medium including printed images and a fiducial mark composed of the exercise of the inkjet print head nozzles is also disclosed.
