The raw material positioning unit comprises a switch for directing the raw material distribution unit alternatively onto a first path or a second path. The invention also includes a method for supplying a flowable raw material to a raw material processing unit of the additive manufacturing device.

摘要: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to powder spreading and an apparatus therefor. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, an apparatus having a flexible core and a shell on a surface of the core is used to displace powder in a powder bed. The shell has a low coefficient of friction, for example on the order of 0.10, and may operate to conduct static electricity away from the powder. The shell may be engaged with the powder to displace the powder and form a uniform powder layer having a planer upper surface, as the core is advanced across the powder bed.

摘要: A recoater supplies a predetermined amount of powder and spreads the supplied powder across a powder bed. The recoater includes a main shaft, a moving mechanism, and a powder guiding part. The main shaft rotates about an axis parallel to a surface of the powder bed. The moving mechanism moves the main shaft in a moving direction perpendicular to the main shaft and parallel to the surface of the powder bed. The powder guiding part is disposed around the main shaft along a predetermined inclination angle relative to the moving direction.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a three-dimensional object from a powder to form each layer of the object. The method includes the steps of driving a powder distribution sled in a first direction to distribute a layer of powder; driving a print sled in the first direction; driving the print sled and the powder distribution sled in a second direction; preheating the layer of powder by activating multiple radiation sources during various ones of the driving steps; during some of the driving steps, depositing a pattern of fluid onto the layer of powder; and sintering the powder on which fluid was deposited only in the second direction, by activating the at least one radiation source assembly during various ones of the driving steps in that direction. Repeating the above steps to distribute the next layer of powder.

摘要: A system is disclosed for use in additively manufacturing a structure. The system may include a print head to discharge a material, and a support to move the print head during discharging to fabricate a structure. The system may also include a receiver mounted to the print head to generate a signal indicative of at least one of a shape, a size, and a location of the discharged material, and a processor in communication with the receiver and the support. The processor may be configured to generate a data cloud of the structure fabricated by the additive manufacturing system based on the signal and based on a known position of the receiver at a time of signal generation. The processor may also be configured to make a comparison of the data cloud and a virtual model of the structure during discharging, and to selectively affect discharging based on the comparison.

摘要: A continuous filament additive manufacturing machine for building a part by laying down a continuous mono-filament or composite filament material layer by layer on a tool or substrate. The machine includes a system, such as a robot, operable to move in at least three degrees of freedom, and a placement module coupled to the system and being configured to deposit the continuous filament material. The placement module includes a guide for guiding the material to the part, a heat source for pre-heating the material as it is being deposited from the placement module and a compaction device for compacting the material as it is being deposited from the placement module. The compaction device includes an ultrasonic horn that is ultrasonically vibrated to melt or flow the material and cause the material to fuse and be compacted to the tool or substrate.
