摘要： An apparatus and method for stopping rotation and retracting a cleaning brush away from contact regions to avoid the occurrence of flat spots or voids in the cleaning brush and prevent toner emissions from the cleaning brush as it is retracted. The cleaning brush is rotated about a pivot point to move the cleaning brush away from contact with the photoreceptor and the detoning roll. The pivot point is positioned so that the variation in interference to the detoning roll is minimized for variations in the interference and location of the brush against the photoreceptor. Each cleaning brush has a housing that moves in conjunction with the movement of the cleaning brush in order to avoid contact between the housing and the cleaning brush. This cleaning apparatus also enables development of multi-layer color images.

摘要： Toner removal device for removing residual toner and debris from a charge retentive surface after transfer of toner images from the surface. This device is characterized by the use of a pair of electrically biased detoning rolls, one for removing toner from a biased cleaner brush for recirculation and use and the other for removing debris such as paper fibers and Kaolin from the brush. Placement of the detoning rolls is selected so that the brushes are located adjacent natural oscillation nodes of the brush, and closely spaced to the position where the cleaning brush leaves contact with the charge retentive surface. Cleaning blades for the detoning rolls are integrally provided with holders for insertion into receiving slots in the cleaning housing. Extrusion sleeves are provided for insertion into toner transport devices for removal for cleaning.

摘要： An apparatus which cleans a moving imaging surface with a cleaning blade and automatically detects a failure of the cleaning blade. A failure sensing mechanism detects the cleaning blade failure and activates a blade indexing mechanism. The indexing mechanism removes the failed cleaning blade and positions a new cleaning blade in a wiping or doctoring mode frictional contact with the imaging surface for cleaning. A brush positioned upstream of the cleaning blade, in the direction of movement of the imaging surface, disturbs the particles thereon.

摘要： An apparatus for developing a latent image recorded on an imaging surface with a custom color toner, including a developer housing for developing a portion of the latent image with the toner of custom color. The developer housing includes a donor member for transporting toner of the custom color to a development zone to develop the latent image.
