    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member, a charging member, an exposing device, a developing device, a transfer member, a brush, a voltage applying portion, and a control portion controlling a surface potential of the photosensitive member at the brush contacting position. When a value of subtracting a value of the surface potential of the photosensitive member in the brush contacting position from a value of the brush voltage is defined as a contacting position potential difference, the control portion controls the surface potential of the photosensitive member in the brush contacting position so that the contacting position potential difference is changed from a first potential difference to a second potential difference in a predetermined direction which is either one of an increasing direction or a decreasing direction, and then the contacting position potential difference is changed from the second potential difference to a third potential difference in the predetermined direction.

    摘要: A sheet feeder with electrostatic dust-collecting function includes a paper path, a feeding roller, a dust-collecting passageway, an electrostatic charge generator and a dust-collecting box. The feeding roller located on the paper path feeds a sheet through the paper path. The dust-collecting passageway has an inlet connected to the paper path and an outlet located opposite to the inlet. The electrostatic charge generator disposed at the outlet of the dust-collecting passageway generates electrostatic charges to attract dust coming from the sheet through the dust-collecting passageway and the paper path. The dust-collecting box for collecting the dust is disposed at the outlet of the dust-collecting passageway and has an adhesive layer for adhering the dust.

    摘要: A system for optimization of a regeneration schedule for a contact cleaning roller (CCR) used to remove particles from a substrate surface by being rolled along the substrate surface. In rolling along the surface, the CCR leaves a residual static charge. The level of leaving charge is sensed by a fieldmeter. When a CCR is first placed into service against a substrate, the leaving charge level is greater than the entering static charge level on the substrate ahead of the CCR. The entering charge is sensed by another fieldmeter, and the charge differential is determined and monitored. As the CCR becomes progressively loaded with particles during service, the leaving charge progressively diminishes. Thus the charge differential indicates inversely the particle loading of the CCR such that a charge differential limit can be set, below which the roller is removed from service and renewed by cleaning.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a latent-image carrier, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a cleaning unit, a recovered-toner supply unit, and a foreign-matter collecting unit. The developing unit carries a developer containing a toner and develops an electrostatic latent image on the latent-image carrier with the toner. The transfer unit transfers the toner developed on the latent-image carrier to a recording material directly or via an intermediate transfer body. The cleaning unit removes a toner remaining on at least one of the latent-image carrier and the intermediate transfer medium after the transfer. The recovered-toner supply unit supplies a toner removed by the cleaning unit to the developing unit again. The foreign-matter collecting unit collects a foreign matter, which is mixed into the toner supplied from the recovered-toner supply unit and moved onto the latent-image carrier by the developing unit, before the transfer by the transfer unit.
