The method includes: generating a bounding box including a vertex of the 3D data based on information included in the geometry data; dividing the bounding box into a plurality of partitions having an equal size; identifying a number of vertices included in each divided partition; appointing a divided partition as a leaf cell based on the identified number of vertices; and coding the geometry data using information on the dividing of the bounding box, information on vertices included in each divided partition, and information indicating the position of a vertex included in the leaf cell, when a divided partition is subdivided.

A method for photographing a panoramic picture, and for identifying motion of a photographing apparatus to automatically photograph respective images of a panoramic picture. The method steps include: (a) obtaining a first image in response to a request for a panoramic picture photography; (b) identifying motion of a photographing apparatus having obtained the first image, by applying a motion estimation technique to currently input images; (c) automatically determining a photographing direction based on the identified motion of the photographing apparatus; (d) selectively applying a motion estimation technique for estimating motion in a horizontal direction or a vertical direction, according to the determined photographing direction, and identifying motion of the photographing apparatus; (e) judging photographing time points of respective images by identifying that the identified motion of the photographing apparatus has reached a preset threshold value for decision of the photographing time point; and (f) photographing images at the photographing time point of the respective images.

A facial image registration apparatus and method are provided for registering a plurality of facial images to be used for face recognition. A plurality of facial images are detected and sorted from a plurality of captured images input from a camera unit at the request of a user. A face feature value is calculated for each of the facial images. The face feature value is a score that is applied according to face features of each of the facial images. Facial images selected according to the calculated face feature values are registered as target facial images to be used for face recognition. As such, various facial images may be registered at a user's single request, thus improving a face recognition rate.
