    Abstract: One embodiment is a printing apparatus comprising: a conveyance unit configured to convey a printing medium in a conveyance direction; and a printing head configured to eject a liquid, and being capable of conducting a maintenance control on the printing head while temporarily pausing a printing operation and configured to execute tiled printing of printing an image in which a plurality of printed products obtained by printing are assumed to be arranged adjacent to each other, while dividing the image into a plurality of pages including at least a first page and a second page, wherein the printing apparatus is configured to control whether or not to conduct the maintenance control based on a conveyance-direction distance from a top of the page along the conveyance direction for the page during printing in a case of executing the tiled printing and printing each of the plurality of pages.

    Abstract: The present invention forms a high-quality image by using a print head, in which a plurality of arrayed small heads, each having a plurality of print elements arranged in columns, are arranged so that at least two sets of print elements in adjoining small heads are aligned in a scan direction. The print head and a print medium are moved relative to each other in the scan direction crossing a direction of the print element columns. The print elements are divided into a plurality of drive blocks and activated the drive blocks on a time-division basis. The small heads each have the plurality of print elements arranged in columns, the number of print elements being equal to an integer times the number of time-division drive blocks. Drive timings with which to activate the paired print elements aligned in the scan direction are the same time-division drive timing.

    Abstract: A printing apparatus operable to form dots on a printing medium by repeating a forward scan and a backward scan comprises a generation unit configured to generate first data of a dot pattern to be formed in a forward scan and second data of a dot pattern to be formed in a backward scan. The generation unit generates the first data and the second data such that the dot pattern to be formed in the forward scan and the dot pattern to be formed in the backward scan have either a blue noise characteristic or a green noise characteristic as a spatial frequency characteristic, and the number of dots to be formed in the forward scan and the number of dots to be formed in the backward scan are substantially the same.

    Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a feed unit that feeds a printing medium; a print unit including first and second arrays of print elements for applying first ink and second ink, respectively, onto the printing medium; and a fixation unit located downstream of the print unit in a feed direction to fixate an image printed on the printing medium. The print unit prints a first image on the printing medium by applying the first ink. The feed unit feeds the printing medium having the first image printed thereon to the fixation unit from upstream to downstream in the feed direction. The fixation unit fixates the first image. The feed unit back-feeds the printing medium having the first image fixated thereon to the print unit from downstream to upstream in the feed direction. The print unit prints a second image on the first image by applying the second ink.
