    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a liquid discharge head, an irradiation unit, a carriage, and a moving unit. The liquid discharge head discharges a liquid including a metallic ink and a color ink onto a recording medium. The irradiation unit irradiates the liquid on the recording medium with light. The liquid discharge head and the irradiation unit are mounted on the carriage. The moving unit perform a main scanning movement and a sub-scanning movement. The liquid discharge head discharges the metallic ink in a region of the recording medium in the main scanning movement and discharges the color ink in the region in which the metallic ink has been discharged, in the same main scanning movement in which the metallic ink is discharged. The irradiation unit irradiates the region in which the metallic ink and the color ink have been discharged, with the light in the same main scanning movement.

    Abstract: A method including receiving a first signal indicative of a first electrical current measured on a first motion assembly (77) for moving a flexible substrate (44) that receives droplets of a printing fluid from an image forming station (60) to form an image thereon. A second signal indicative of a second electrical current measured on a second motion assembly (99) for moving the flexible substrate (44), is received, wherein a section of the flexible substrate (44) is moving between the first motion assembly (77) and the second motion assembly (99). A parameter, which is indicative of a distortion in the image, is calculated based on the first signal and the second signal. In response to detecting, based on the parameter, an increase in the distortion, a corrective action is applied to reduce the distortion.

    Abstract: Printheads and methods of operation. In one embodiment, a printhead includes a plurality of jetting channels comprising first jetting channels configured to jet a first print fluid and second jetting channels configured to jet a second print fluid, and a driver circuit communicatively coupled to actuators of the jetting channels. The driver circuit receives a drive waveform comprising non-jetting pulses and jetting pulses, and gating signals comprising a first active gating signal designated for jetting the first print fluid, and a second active gating signal designated for jetting the second print fluid. The driver circuit selectively applies the non-jetting pulses and the jetting pulses to actuators of the first jetting channels based on the first active gating signal to jet the first print fluid, and selectively applies the jetting pulses to actuators of the second jetting channels based on the second active gating signal to jet the second print fluid.
