Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a control unit configured to perform a rubbing mode in which a rubbing rotatable member moves from a separation position to an abutment position in a state where a fixing belt is in a stop state. The control unit is configured to control a contact-and-separation mechanism in the rubbing mode such that if a predetermined temperature to which the fixing belt is heated is a first temperature, the rubbing rotatable member moves from the abutment position to the separation position at a timing when a first time has elapsed since the rubbing rotatable member abutted against the surface of the fixing belt, and if the predetermined temperature is a second temperature higher than the first temperature, the rubbing rotatable member moves from the abutment position to the separation position at a timing when a second time shorter than the first time has elapsed.

Abstract: An image heating apparatus includes an endless belt, a rotary member configured to form a nip portion with the endless belt, regulating members for regulating the endless belt from moving in a longitudinal direction by being in contact with longitudinal ends of the endless belt, and a sheet-like heating member. The heating member includes a heat transfer member in contact with the inner surface of the endless belt, and a heating portion located on an opposite side from a side, of the heating member, in contact with the inner surface of the endless belt across the heat transfer member. Both end portions of the heat transfer member are disposed at the same location or outside of both end portions of the heating portion in the longitudinal direction and are disposed inside of both end portions of the rotary member in the longitudinal direction.

Abstract: An image fixing device for fixing an image on a sheet includes a rotatable fixing film, a heater, a rotatable pressing member, a holding member, and a metal sheet. The heater is provided on an inner surface of the fixing belt. The rotatable pressing member is provided in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the film to press against the heater through the film, thus forming a nip configured to nip and feed the sheet. The holding member includes a guide portion configured to guide the rotation of the fixing film and to hold the heater. The metal sheet covers the heater and an area of guide portion slidable relative to an inner surface of the fixing film. The metal sheet has a thermal conductivity ≥10W/(m·° C.) and has a thickness more than 0 μm and not more than 50 μm.
