摘要： A fixing apparatus including a flexible belt having a heat generating layer, an outer ring provided on one edge side of the belt and along an outer peripheral surface of the belt, the outer ring being electrically connected to the heat generating layer, an inner ring provided on the one edge side of the belt and along an inner peripheral surface of the belt to face the outer ring through the belt, and a power supply unit that is electrically connected to the outer ring and that feeds power. A difference obtained by subtracting a diameter of the inner ring at a normal temperature from a diameter of the inner ring at a fixing temperature is equivalent to or larger than a difference obtained by subtracting a diameter of the outer ring at the normal temperature from a diameter of the outer ring at the fixing temperature.

摘要： An image heating apparatus includes: an endless belt; a heater for heating the belt, the heater forms a sliding portion between an inner surface of the belt and the heater; a rotatable member cooperative with the heater to sandwich the belt to form a nip between an outer peripheral surface of the belt and the rotatable member; a temperature detector provided on a surface of the heater relatively more remote from the sliding portion than the heater; a controller for controlling the timing of feeding the sheet to the nip on the basis of an output of the detector; and lubricant provided in at least a part of the sliding portion except for a range which is in an opposing relation with the detector. The sliding portion is free of the lubricant in the range.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image formation unit, an image heating unit, a placement unit, and a control unit. The image heating unit heats an image formed by image formation unit on the recording material that was placed on the placement unit. If an envelope is placed on the placement unit with a flap of the envelope in a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction of a recording material, the control unit executed control to automatically execute two-sided printing on the envelope such that images formed on a first and a surface of the envelope are heated by the image heating unit. If an envelope is placed on the placement unit with a flap of the envelope in the conveyance direction of the recording material, the control unit executes control to inhibit execution of two-sided printing on the envelope.
