Abstract: An electronic timepiece that displays time based on city data related to the time of a city includes: a second home time storage area and a third world time storage area that store additional city data related to the time of an additional city transmitted from an external device; a storage area other than the second home time storage area and the third world time storage area; and a processing unit that clears the additional city data stored in the second home time storage area and the third world time storage area when selected data is switched from the additional city data stored in the second home time storage area and the third world time storage area to the city data stored in the storage area.

Abstract: In the case where a ticking timing of a clock unit changes, a CPU of an electronic timepiece outputs a synchronization request signal to a CPU of a display module at the next ticking timing after the change so as to request resynchronization. Each time a timer circuit counts a prescribed number of pulses in a clock signal generated by a clock generation circuit on the basis of the ticking timing, the CPU of the display module instructs a liquid crystal driver circuit to invert the polarity of an AC voltage to be applied to a liquid crystal panel. Moreover, upon receiving the synchronization request signal from the CPU of the electronic timepiece, the CPU of the display module sets the timer circuit to start a new count of the clock.

Abstract: An analog electronic timepiece includes a stepping motor, a gear train mechanism having gears, a pointer, a drive control unit, a control content changing unit, and a pointer position adjustment unit. If an operational command to rotate the pointer to a different moving target position is obtained while an operational control for rotating the pointer to a certain moving target position is in progress, the control content changing unit terminates the control and changes a control content to an operational control according to the command. If the reverse rotation driving operation is being performed, the pointer position adjustment unit performs an adjustment operation for removing shifting between a predicted position of the pointer and an actual position of the pointer which occurs because of rotational input from the stepping motor not being transmitted to the pointer due to gaps relating to the mesh of the gears.
