THE PRESSURE OF THE COMMUNICATED FUEL ADJACENT THE OUTBOARD FACE OF THE SECOND LAND IS CONTROLLED BY A TORQUE MOTOR. AN INLET PORT, LOCATED INTERMEDIATE THE LANDS, ADMITS FUEL FROM A SEGMENT OF A MAIN FUEL SUPPLY LINE WHICH FLOWS OUTWARDLY FROM AN OUTLET PORT ADAPTED TO BE PARTIALLY COVERED BY THE FIRST LAND. A FEEDBACK POTENTIOMETER SENDS A SIGNAL WHICH IS COMPARED WITH AN INPUT COMMAND SIGNAL FOR GENERATING AN ERROR SIGNAL TO THE TORQUE MOTOR. A CONSTANT DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE IS MAINTAINED BETWEEN THE INLET AND OUTLET PORTS SO THAT FUEL FLOW IS A FUNCTION OF SPOOL POSITION.

    摘要: A fuel control of the 3D cam type for a gas turbine engine has a proportional governor and an integral governor interconnected by a linkage which acts as a highest wins device between an acceleration schedule and the governors. The linkage also compares the actual engine speed with the desired set engine speed to position a pilot valve which controls the position of a fuel metering valve. An axially movable 3D cam has the acceleration schedule contoured on its surface and is adapted to be contacted by a follower which is functionally connected to the pilot valve. Another contour on the cam is engaged by a follower which controls the position of a compressor interstage bleed valve. A compressor air inlet temperature sensor rotatably positions the 3D cam in accordance with the magnitude of the sensed air temperature. The metering valve moves towards its full open position as the acceleration schedule on the advancing 3D cam closes the pilot valve. The proportional governor becomes effectual as the set speed is attained and the integral governor resets the proportional governor for isochronous governing at the preselected isochronous speed.

    摘要: A slug pump and pressurizing valve are fluidly interconnected in a starting circuit of a fuel control system for a gas turbine engine. The pressurizing valve fluidly interconnects two segments of the main fuel supply line for providing a regulated pressure in one of the segments. The slug pump is used in the starting operation to expel a volume of fuel contained within the pump and thus momentarily propel a burst of fuel to the engine. The slug pump includes a chamber and either a piston or a diaphragm to expel the fuel. The pressurizing valve has tow springs which bias a piston, the face of which is exposed to the segment of the main fuel supply line in which the fuel pressure is to be regulated. One spring always biases the piston, while the other spring biases the piston only after the piston moves to a predetermined position. When a predetermined pressure is applied to the exposed face of the piston by the main fuel pump, the piston moves upwardly to close off the starting circuit. After a sufficient pressure is applied to the exposed face, the other spring causes the pressure adjacent the exposed face to be regulated.

    摘要: A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine includes a fuel control for delivering a metered flow of fuel and a fuel distribution valve for receiving the metered flow and apportioning the metered flow among the various nozzles of the burner system. The fuel distribution valve has a first sliding plate valve for controlling flow to the primary burner and a second sliding plate valve for controlling flow to the secondary burners. A differential pressure sensor, which is subjected to the outlet pressure of the fuel control, and the pressure in the primary burner is adapted to rotate both the first and second plate valves in unison as the sensed differential pressure increases so as to provide increasing orifice areas which yield a lower pressure drop for an increased flow rate than would a fixed orifice. A staging valve is incorporated in the distribution valve to maintain the second plate valve in a closed position during engine starting.

    摘要: A fluid amplifier is provided with pressure surfaces which are movable in response to the pressure differential between two opposed chambers. A power stream impinges on a splitter element which separates two channels which respectively communicate with the chambers, so that a control stream may direct the power stream into either channel and create a pressure differential between the chambers. When the pressure surfaces move, the splitter element again impinges on the power stream annulling the initial pressure differential. Either the splitting element or the orifice of the power stream is connected to the pressure surfaces so as to be movable therewith to change the relative location of the splitter element and orifice. The amplifier may be employed as either a position or force to pressure transducer or a pressure to position or force transducer. A fluidic closedloop pneumatic actuation system incorporates the amplifier to position a servovalve controlled actuator.
