摘要:
A fuel control system has a boost pump for pumping liquid fuel to a positive displacement pump, which in turn meters the fuel to a fuel nozzle of a combustion engine. The positive displacement pump is variably driven independently of the boost pump, and includes a pressure regulator for minimizing pressure difference across the pump.

Method and apparatus for metering fuel flow to a gas turbine engine includes a first bifurcated movable metering element straddling a pair of opposed metering openings and shiftable to adjust the area of the openings to vary fuel flow from a pump to the combustion chamber of the engine. A second bifurcated movable metering element straddles a second pair of opposed metering openings to adjust fuel flow back to the inlet of the pump in bypassing relationship to the combustor. The movement of the second metering element is responsive to the pressure differential across the first metering openings to maintain this pressure differential substantially constant to allow precise fuel metering by movement of the first metering element.

A fuel control system for a gas turbine engine which has a gas generator and a separate work turbine, comprises a metering device and an arrangement of throttle valves downstream of the metering device for controlling the fuel pressure drop through the metering device. A first throttle valve is responsive to a difference between desired and actual gas generator speeds to maintain the metering pressure drop constant for a selected speed. This throttle valve is also operable to restrict fuel flow if the work turbine exceeds a predetermined speed. A second throttle valve, in parallel with the first valve controls fuel flow at low engine speeds, and first valve controls fuel flow during acceleration.

A local maintenance controller permits continued power generation during maintenance or failure of a primary gas turbine control system by manually for maintenance purposes or automatically for failure purposes assuming turbine control to thereby insure continued operation. The local maintenance controller set forth is particularly suitable for use in conjunction with a computer implemented gas turbine control system.Transfer between the local maintenance controller and the primary control system is effected in a bumpless manner so that load swings are absent. However, if the turbine was operating at system reserve at the time of transfer, the local maintenance controller reduces the load to peak value until primary control is resumed. Operation at any other load at the time of transfer is maintained by the controller. Transfer back to primary control is also effected in a bumpless manner.Pushbuttons provided on the controller and associated circuitry permit an operator to change loads as necessary within the limits of a peak performance curve. In addition, the turbine can be started, synchronized and loaded as necessary by the operator.

An ambient compensator, as for a turbine engine fuel control, has a valve interposed between a source of fluid signal pressure and related structure adapted to be acted upon by such fluid signal pressure, a first diaphragm member connected to the valve is exposed to the fluid signal pressure while a second diaphragm member is exposed to ambient pressure conditions and is also connected to the valve; the two diaphragm members cooperating to adjustably position the valve to thereby modify the magnitude of the signal pressure communicated to the related structure.

A governor for controlling the fuel feed of a gas turbine and in particular an aviation turbojet engine, comprising a housing containing hydromechanical elements, electromechanical elements and electronic elements immersed in a fuel bath which is renewed by a circulation of fuel between leakage or return flows caused by the operation of the said hydromechanical elements and a fuel return conduit, the said electronic elements being housed in a removable cover of the housing and fixed to the upper part of a support, the lower part of which supports the electromechanical elements.

A turbine engine fuel control is provided with a fuel inlet, metering-type governor valve assembly responsive to signals generated in response to engine speed and indicia of operator power request, fuel bypass valving means for returning unmetered fuel from the fuel control to an associated fuel supply system, compressor discharge pressure sensing means for tending to further close the bypass valving means as compressor discharge pressure increases, pressure responsive means responsive to the differential in pressures which meter the fuel for opening said bypass valving means in order to achieve a rate of metered fuel flow corresponding to compressor discharge pressure, and additional pressure responsive valving means responsive to ambient conditions and generally interposed between a source of the compressor discharge pressure and the compressor discharge pressure sensing means for at times modifying the value of the compressor discharge pressure as sensed by the compressor discharge pressure sensing means.

A fuel control system for a gas turbine engine includes an injection device which can be charged with fuel and which is operable when the engine is started to deliver this charge of fuel directly to the engine.

A fuel-pumping system for a gas turbine engine includes a jet pump in the fuel tank, a boost pump, a pressure pump, and a fuel control to control the fuel supply from the pressure pump to the engine. The jet pump is energized by fuel diverted from the outlet of the pressure pump through a static vortex-type flowresisting device having a pressure drop proportional to flow raised to a power greater than two. This device reduces the amount of increase in fuel returned to the jet pump which would otherwise occur under high-pressure discharge conditions of the pressure pump.
