[Also in Division G3] In an arrangement for co-ordinating control of a cooling fan motor and a refrigeration compressor, within a given range the fan motor speed is decreased in correspondance with temperature drop until a point is reached then the compressor is disconnected. A further decrease in temperature decreases the fan motor speed until at the bottom of the range the fan motor is disconnected. A small rise in temperature re-energizes the fan at low speed, and over part of the range the fan speed is increased as the temperature increases. At the top of the temperature range the compressor motor is reenergized coupled with an increase of fan speed. A permanently connected split phase motor 18 is controlled through contacts 82 and also by a triac 86 the gate of which is connected to breakdown diode 92 to a R.C. network C2, 90, 94 and rheostat 96, which is varied by a diaphragm unit 26 also operating contacts 82 and a compressor motor switch (24), see Fig. 1 (not shown) at the bottom of the temperature range. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 7 (not shown) one motor winding is connected directly across the supply and in another arrangement the shunt between terminals B, C is replaced by a two-way switch which in one position connects the triac gate to a manually variable resistor. The components may be mounted on a printed circuit board and the contacts and the rheostat are operated by a known bellows unit sensitive to a room temperature.
