    摘要: The present invention includes a push button rotary knob assembly which provides rotational movement and translational travel along an axis. The present invention controls electronics within a housing, without requiring protrusion into the housing. Having no protrusions into the housing avoids exposure of the electronics within the housing to environmental contaminants or electromagnetic interference. The components of the push button rotary knob assembly may operate without need for O-rings, gaskets, or any other applied sealants. Assembly of the push button rotary knob is simplified, because the rotary knob may be assembled and replaced without any tools and without need to access the interior of the housing. Furthermore, if the rotary knob is damaged, the rotary knob may be replaced, and any seal provided to exterior surfaces of the housing is not compromised.

    摘要: An optical device for viewing an image is provided. The optical device includes two optical channels, each optical channel including an image detector assembly and a complimentary objective lens assembly spaced by a respective distance from the image detector assembly. A focus mechanism is either directly or indirectly coupled to both image detector assemblies. The focus mechanism includes two threaded segments having an unequal thread pitch. Each image detector assembly includes a mating threaded segment that is threadedly coupled to a respective threaded segment of the focus mechanism such that rotation of the focus mechanism causes translation of both image detector assemblies at unequal rates by virtue of the unequal thread pitch of the threaded segments of the focus mechanism.

    摘要: A mechanism for adjusting the position of an optical device with respect to a field helmet along an axis of translation is provided. The mechanism comprises an optical device mounting component for coupling to the optical device. A field helmet mounting component for coupling to the field helmet is slideably coupled to the optical device mounting component along the axis of translation. A lever configured for selectively engaging a surface of either mounting component permits translation of the optical device mounting component along the axis of translation with respect to the field helmet. The optical device mounting component is configured to translate along the axis of translation with respect to the field helmet between an extended position and a retracted position, wherein the optical device is proximal to the helmet in the retracted position and distal to the helmet in the extended position.

    摘要: A night vision device includes an image intensifier tube and a fiber optic screen disposed in operative relationship to each other. The fiber optic screen includes a longitudinal bundle of multiple optical fibers, where the bundle has an outer surface. A groove is formed in the fiber optic screen and extends transversely to the longitudinal bundle. An indicator is positioned adjacent to the outer surface of the bundle and is proximate to the groove, where the groove is configured to redirect light emitted from the indicator for viewing by a user. The groove may be formed circumferentially around a portion of the outer surface of the longitudinal bundle. The groove includes a surface of end portions of multiple cut optical fibers, and the groove is configured to redirect the light emitted from the indicator toward the user by way of the end portions of the multiple cut optical fibers.
