摘要： A bench grinder has a tool rest mounted on a bracket and disposed adjacent a grinding wheel of the grinder. The tool rest has a tool rest platform that is connected to the bracket by a pivot connection and that may be secured in different angular positions by a bolt, such as a hand bolt. The bracket end to which the platform is affixed is provided with a cylindrical surface portion marked with angle marks. An opening is provided in the tool rest platform through which the angle marked surface is visible. An indicator line on the tool rest platform aligns to the angle mark to indicate the angle of the platform.

摘要： A work holding device, such as a vice, includes first and second jaws and a spindle connected between them to change the distance between the jaws for holding a work piece. An elongated connection member extends from the first jaw and is shaped to fit into a receiver member of a receiver hitch on a vehicle. Adjustable projections are provided on the elongated connection member for reducing movement of the vice in the hitch. The adjustable projections may be set screws. An end cap is provided on the end of the elongated connection member. The work holding device may be mounted in a receiver member or bracket on a workbench or other work area.

The first connection member defines a first passage. A second jaw piece has an elongated second connection member positionable within the first passage. The second connection member defines a second passage in communication with the first passage. A spindle assembly movably couples the second jaw piece to the first jaw piece. The spindle assembly is configured to move the second jaw piece with respect to the first jaw piece to create a clamping pressure when an object is placed between the first jaw piece and the second jaw piece.

摘要： A method of determining an average length of reinforcing fiber in a sample of reinforcing fibers is disclosed. A sample of reinforcing fibers is weighed to obtain a total sample weight. The sample of reinforcing fibers is placed in a fiber separating mechanism and suspended in water. The water is stirred after which the water is allowed to settle such that the sample of reinforcing fiber divides into a plurality of fractions in separate sections of the fiber separating mechanism. Each fraction has reinforcing fibers of substantially similar lengths and is separately weighed. An average fiber length is calculated from the relative weights of each of the plurality of fractions and the total sample weight. In addition, a method of determining an average length of a reinforcing fiber in a composite material having a resin and a plurality of reinforcing fibers is disclosed.

摘要： An overload indicator for a hoist includes first and second blocks that connect to the lifting medium (a chain for a chain hoist) at spaced locations. The first and second blocks are held at a spacing by indicator bands so that the lifting medium is slack between the blocks. The indicator bands have weakened portions to deform, stretch or break when subject to a load over a threshold, such as over a lifting capacity of the hoist. Covers are provided over the indicator bands that are closely spaced to define an indicator gap. If the indicator bands stretch, the indicator gap increases to indicate an overload condition.
