    摘要: A method for recycling a carbon fiber-reinforced resin including a carbon fiber and a matrix resin is provided, and the method includes: a first heating step of heating the carbon fiber-reinforced resin to decompose the matrix resin so as to obtain an intermediate in which the decomposition residue of the matrix resin is adhered to the carbon fiber; an unwinding step of unwinding an intermediate fiber from the intermediate; a second heating step of heating the unwound intermediate fiber to decompose the decomposition residue of the matrix resin adhered to the intermediate fiber so as to obtain a recycled carbon fiber; and a winding step of winding the recycled carbon fiber.

    摘要: A method of determining an average length of reinforcing fiber in a sample of reinforcing fibers is disclosed. A sample of reinforcing fibers is weighed to obtain a total sample weight. The sample of reinforcing fibers is placed in a fiber separating mechanism and suspended in water. The water is stirred after which the water is allowed to settle such that the sample of reinforcing fiber divides into a plurality of fractions in separate sections of the fiber separating mechanism. Each fraction has reinforcing fibers of substantially similar lengths and is separately weighed. An average fiber length is calculated from the relative weights of each of the plurality of fractions and the total sample weight. In addition, a method of determining an average length of a reinforcing fiber in a composite material having a resin and a plurality of reinforcing fibers is disclosed.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are described for creating rubber crumb from rubber vehicle tires. The method provides for the soaking of a vehicle tire in a solvent, removal of the tire from the solvent, movement of the tire by a conveyor to an apparatus that applies physical pressure to the tire, while situated upon a circular screen which allows the physical pressure applied to fragment the tire into its component parts, pressing the rubber components through the screen with any remaining liquid and allowing the non rubber components to be removed for recycling purposes or to be discarded. The apparatus applies physical pressure to separate the rubber and non rubber components from one another.

    摘要: A waste tire processing apparatus (10) reacts waste tires (26) with a molten reactant metal (19) to recover primarily carbon and stainless steel. The apparatus (10) includes a tire positioning arrangement (20) for positioning the waste tires (26) in the molten reactant metal (19) for a reaction period. After the reaction period, the tire positioning arrangement (20) removes from the molten metal non-reacted solids remaining after the reaction. The non-reacted solids comprise primarily stainless-steel included in the waste tires. As the waste tires (26) are reacted in the molten reactant metal (19), a gas recovery arrangement (14) collects process gases released from the molten metal. The gas recovery arrangement (14) recovers primarily carbon, metal salts, hydrogen, and nitrogen.
