    摘要: A fuser stripper baffle exit minimizes differential gloss marks due to paper contacting the fuser exit baffle. Portions of paper that touch the baffle cool differently than portions that don't, resulting in differential gloss in the paper path or spanwise direction. The exit baffle contains a series of axial-direction steps or plateaus in its upper surface, such that the highest step is nearest the fuser roll, while the lowest plateau is furthest from the roll. This reduces the surface area of the fuser stripper baffle exit that contacts the surface of the paper sheet as the paper sheet is stripped from the fuser roll. The paper thus touches the exit baffle for the minimum amount of time, thus minimizing the heat transfer to the baffle. This minimizes differential cooling effects which, in turn, minimizes differential gloss.

    摘要: A dual mode document feeder for feeding conventional document sheets from a stack thereof in the document feeding tray of the document feeder to the imaging station of a copier, the document feeding tray having a resettable side guide for those conventional document sheets, wherein the dual mode document feeder alternatively provides automatic restacking of fan-fold web documents in this same document tray. The document feeding tray is enlarged to accommodate the latter. The side guide is repositionable intermediately of the document feeding tray. The side guide has an additional integral fan-fold web end stopping surface intersecting with the tray bottom surface to provide restacking of fan-fold web thereon. Automatic fan-fold stacking of the fan-fold web document is provided in the document feeding tray by guiding the fan-fold web into the document feeding tray from the imaging station with the platen transport through a baffle guide to and against this additional side guide surface, in cooperation with the tray surfaces, for automatic restacking.

    摘要: A container for collecting waste developer in an electrostatographic printing machine employing a trickle type developing process and having a waste developer discharge tube with a discharge opening adjacent an outer end thereof for discharging waste developer. The container includes an outer wall enclosing an interior chamber, with a partition wall extending from an inner surface of the outer wall dividing the inner chamber into a collection chamber and an overflow chamber. An opening is formed in the outer wall into the overflow chamber. The opening is sized and shaped to receive the discharge tube therethrough. When received through the opening, the discharge tube extends through the overflow chamber, over an inner edge of the partition wall and into the collection chamber, with the discharge opening being located within the collection chamber. With this construction, the waste developer is discharged into the collection chamber.

    摘要: A motion control system controls the linear motion of a safety gate or other object, to prevent its skewing or binding, by two inter-connecting (meshed) gears, which also connect with (are respectively meshed with) two spaced apart, parallel, linear gear racks. The two gears extend between and interconnect the two gear racks, so that all four components are geared together, and have the same gear pitch. This forces the two spaced apart gear racks to track and move in lock-step with one another in a direction of motion aligned with and parallel to the gear racks, thus insuring linear movement of the member being moved (the safety gate here) irrespective of where on the member the moving member is pushed, pulled or otherwise acted on, i.e., even off-center, and without requiring critical edge guide channels, tracks, or the like. In this example a simple solenoid moves the safety gate with consistently low force.
