摘要： The present invention is directed towards a method of forming a multilayer golf ball which comprises a core, an inner cover layer and an outer cover layer. The steps include forming a golf ball core; molding an inner cover layer around said golf ball core with a material having a first shore D hardness; and casting an outer cover layer around said inner cover layer and golf ball core with a thermoset material having a second shore D hardness less than the first. The core is comprised of a center made from a first rubber based material and an outer layer formed from a second rubber based material. Preferably, the first rubber based material has about 15 to 25 parts of a crosslinking agent per hundred parts of rubber and the second rubber based material has about 20 to 40 parts of a crosslinking agent per hundred parts of rubber.

摘要： The present invention is directed to golf balls having a layer formed from a relatively soft HNP composition and a layer formed from a relatively hard HNP composition. Golf balls of the present invention have at least three layers, including an inner core layer, an outer core layer, a cover, and optionally an intermediate core layer. The present invention is not limited by which golf ball layers are formed from an HNP composition, so long as at least one layer is formed from a relatively soft HNP composition and at least one layer is formed from a relatively hard HNP composition. Relatively soft HNP compositions of the present invention comprise a highly neutralized acid copolymer preferably having a modulus of from 1,000 psi to 50,000 psi. Relatively hard HNP compositions of the present invention comprise a highly neutralized acid copolymer preferably having a modulus of from 25,000 psi to 150,000 psi.

摘要： The present invention is directed to an improved multi-layer golf ball displaying enhanced playing characteristics, including high speed, high launch, and low spin. In general the golf ball displays improved performance in areas such as distance and feel for lower swing speed players. The ball has a relatively large solid inner core, with at least one solid outer core layer surrounding the inner core, and a thin cover layer surrounding the outermost core layer. The inner core is softer than the outer core, which in turn is softer than the cover. The ball may be designed such that the coefficient of restitution (COR) gradient is from slow to fast; that is, the inner core has a lower COR than the total core, which has a lower COR than the entire golf ball.

Circular dimples and circular land areas may also be included in the dimple pattern. The dimple pattern is easily adjusted to manipulate the aerodynamic efficiency of the golf ball.
