Abstract:
A device and method for arranging a display allows for the easy installation of a display in a home entertainment system. The flexibility of modern home entertainment/theater systems that include a digital display device permits many different installation options. Thus, the invention facilitates the installation of such a display by aligning a viewing screen with an image from a projection display device on both a horizontal axis and a vertical axis.
Abstract:
An apparatus including a viewing screen supported by a display supporting surface, including a level device configured to indicate that an edge of the viewing screen is substantially level. The height of the viewing screen from the floor may be adjusted using a removable apparatus which may be disconnected from the viewing screen after the viewing screen is leveled.
Abstract:
A mounting device for attaching an object to a supporting structure includes a first member including at least one first magnet and a projection, the first member configured to be attached to a supporting structure, a second member including at least one second magnet and a recess to receive the projection, the at least one second magnet configured to be attracted to the at least one first magnet, and an electromagnet selectively operable to provide magnetic force to couple the first and second members together. A method of mounting an electronic display to a supporting structure also is disclosed.
Abstract:
Integrated processing of audio/video signals can eliminate unnecessary signal processors and converters without losing the functionality of typical home entertainment system components. The integrated system includes a main player that captures and processes signals digitally, a dummy display, and a dummy speaker. The dummy display may only have a display panel and a panel driver. The dummy speaker may only have a driving unit and no crossover logic. The main player may have a PC architecture and process all signals digitally for outputting signals tailored for the display device and the individual driving units of the dummy speaker. The integrated system may also provide dynamic signal adjustments based on the surrounding environment. The main player may include a storage device and can process media content stored therein to produce supplemental information to provide an optimal audiovisual experience. This supplemental information can be shared among users over a network connection.
Abstract:
A display device includes a color plate and a shutter device. The color plate includes color pixels configured to emit color lights included in a first color image. The shutter device is disposed on the color plate to receive the color lights of the first color image and includes shutter pixels adjusting the color lights of the first color image to output a second color image. The shutter device contains a first number of the shutter pixels in a unit area and the color plate contains a second number of the color pixels in the unit area, the first number being greater than the second number.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method to decrease bit rate through direct control of video compression parameters when compressing a video. The video compressing apparatus may use a Region of Interest (ROI)-dependent compression parameter and may include a ROI estimating part, a parameter allocating part, and a compression part. The ROI estimating part may estimate theROI of an input video. The parameter allocating part may allocate a compression parameter to each region of the input video based on the estimated ROI information. The compression part may compress the input video by applying the parameter allocated to each region. A higher compression rate may be achieved by allocating a higher bit rate to the ROI and a lower bit rate to non-ROI regions.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for compressing a video in a video processing system include an adaptive video analyzing apparatus and method for compressing a video after determining a resolution per each frame or group of frames of the video. The adaptive video analyzing apparatus may include an analyzing part to determine the resolution in accordance with a pre-determined standard, and a compressing part to compress the video based on the determined resolution.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling a bitrate used in video encoding to ensure quality of a targeted video in a video processing system. The apparatus may include a bitrate analyzer to determine a minimum bitrate satisfying a target video quality designated for each frame and/or scene, and an encoder to encode each frame using determined bitrates for each frame and/or scene. The present invention discloses a bitrate control method that includes a process of determining the minimum bitrate satisfying the target quality designated for each frame or scene and a process of encoding each frame using the bitrate for each frame or scene determined above. A designated service quality can be produced by finding a unique bitrate that yields good video quality based on the complexity of each scene.
