Abstract: An audio/video receiver configured to limit the power delivered to its speakers based on real time calculations. First, power delivered to the speakers is limited to the power rating of the speakers during short durations. Second, a secondary longer time constant Root-Mean-Square (RMS) detector limits sustained power to the speakers for a predetermined fraction of the peak power rating.
