Abstract: Audio systems, methods, and computer readable media for managing audio headroom are provided. At least two input signals are received and combined. The combined signals is compared to a threshold value and may be adjusted if the combined signal exceeds the threshold value. A gain is applied to the first input signal based upon the combined signal being above the threshold value. The gain may be an attenuating gain. Accordingly, a gain is applied to at least one input signal to reduce the input signal when a combination of the input signals exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: In general, various aspects of the techniques are directed to transducer excursion correction. A computing device comprising a memory and a processor may be configured to perform the techniques. The memory may store voltage measurements representative of voltage across a transducer and current measurements representative of current through the transducer. The processor may identify a first voltage measurement of the voltage measurements and a first current measurement of the current measurements associated with nonlinear vibration of the transducer. The processor may perform a principal component analysis with respect to the first voltage measurement and the first current measurement to obtain a principal component representative of variation of the voltage across and the current through the transducer. The processor may modify, based on the principal component, an input voltage to be applied across the transducer to reduce the nonlinear vibration of the transducer.

Abstract: Controlling operation of an electrostatic acoustic device including a membrane and an electrode disposed proximate to the membrane. A probe signal varying at radio frequency is injected into the electrode. A current or charge signal is detected by converting the current or charge signal to a modulated voltage signal. The current or charge signal includes an audio signal varying at audio frequencies modulating the radio frequency of the probe signal. The modulated voltage signal is demodulated to produce an audio output signal varying at audio frequency. The audio output signal is transformed to produce an error signal. A control signal is input to the electrostatic acoustic device responsive to the error signal. The control signal is configured to cancel at least in part a mechanical response of the membrane due to ambient noise.

Abstract: A method is provided, including: defining a plurality of frequency bins; sending, during a training phase, a test signal at different amplitude levels to one or more speakers, and gathering resulting test voltage (V) and current (I) points for the different amplitude levels and for each frequency bin; for each frequency bin, applying a linear regression algorithm to the gathered test voltage and current points for the different amplitudes to obtain a reference electrical impedance of said one or more speakers; sending, during a monitoring phase subsequent to said training phase, an audio signal to said one or more speakers, and gathering resulting new voltage and current points to obtain an operating electrical impedance for said one or more speakers for each frequency bin, determining a deviation between the operating and the reference electrical impedance, and, if the deviation exceeds a defined tolerance, reporting the deviation to a user.

Abstract: In implementations of an audio system, when overheating of a speaker is detected, a controller controls first and second selectors to input an audio signal output by an audio source device to a cooling processing section and cause output of the cooling processing section to be output to the speaker. In the cooling processing section, a mixer mixes an audio signal obtained by removing a low-frequency component from the input audio signal by a high-pass filter with a cooling signal at an infrasonic frequency generated by a cooling signal generator and adjusted with a gain by a gain adjuster. An audio signal obtained by mixing the audio signal with the cooling signal is output from the cooling processing section via a nonlinear inverse filter. A gain setting section sets the gain such that power of the cooling signal matches power of the low-frequency component extracted by a low-pass filter.

Abstract: Example techniques may involve controlling a passive radiator. An implementation may include a device receiving, via a network interface, audio content and generating an audio signal representing the audio content. Generating the audio signal involves modifying portions of the audio content to limit excursion of the speaker driver to less than an excursion limit when a forward prediction model indicates that the portions of the audio content are predicted to cause the speaker driver to move beyond the excursion limit. While playing back the generated audio signal via the audio stage, the device detects, via a sensor, clipping of the speaker driver and generates a feedback signal based on the detected clipping of the speaker driver. The device adjusts the forward prediction model based on the generated feedback signal.
