Abstract: An apparatus includes an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders allocated between a first bank having a first cylinder head and a second bank having a second cylinder head. A medial space is defined between the first bank and the second bank. An exhaust system is in fluid receiving communication with the internal combustion engine and in fluid providing communication with the atmosphere. The exhaust system includes an aftertreatment system that is disposed at least in part at the medial space between the first bank and the second bank of the internal combustion engine.
