Abstract: Provided is a sliding material including a substrate; and a copper alloy layer bonded to the substrate. The copper alloy includes 2.0 to 15.0% by mass of tin. The copper alloy layer includes a sliding body part including a sliding surface, and a gradient region including a bond surface with the substrate. A tin concentration in the gradient region reduces from the sliding body part toward the bond surface. A method for producing the siding material is also provided. The method includes preparing the substrate having a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface; melting the copper alloy; casting the molten copper alloy on the first surface of the substrate; and solidifying the copper alloy unidirectionally by cooling the substrate from the second surface by a coolant.

Abstract: A thrust bearing including a back metal layer and a sliding layer joined to a front face of the back metal layer. The thrust bearing having a thickness. The back metal layer includes an intermediate sub-layer and a buffer sub-layer disposed on a back face of the back metal layer. The sliding layer is joined to the intermediate sub-layer. Both of the sub-layers include iron or an iron alloy, and the buffer sub-layer has a thickness of 2 to 20% relative to the thickness of the thrust bearing, and a porosity ratio of 10 to 50%.

Abstract: In a copper-based slide member in which needle-shaped Mn—Si based compounds are dispersed in a brass structure, 50% or more of a total number of the needle-shaped Mn—Si based compounds having lengths of 50 μm or more in a major axis direction are constituted of a plurality of small particles. Thereby, even if the needle-shaped Mn—Si based compounds fall off during sliding, the small particles which constitute the needle-shaped Mn—Si based compounds may fall off. Thus, the frequency of falling off of the coarse needle-shaped Mn—Si based compound which damages a shaft and a bearing is decreased. Therefore, seizure hardly occurs.
