In a rotating electric machine, a field element includes: a circular annular magnet portion that includes magnetic poles of which polarities alternate in a circumferential direction; and a cylindrical magnet holding portion where the magnet portion is fixed on an inner circumferential surface of the magnet portion. An armature is arranged to oppose the magnet portion on an inner side in a radial direction of the magnet portion. The magnet portion includes circular-arc-shaped magnets arranged in an array in the circumferential direction. In each magnet, both end surfaces in the circumferential direction are along the radial direction and in contact with a magnet adjacent in the circumferential direction. The magnet holding portion is reduced in size such that, in a state where the magnets are arrayed in the circumferential direction, an outer circumference of the magnets is reduced from an outer side toward an inner side in the radial direction.

Provided is a method of manufacturing an oriented steel plate having two or more regions in each of which a crystal orientation is arranged in a specific direction. In the method, at least two single crystal steels are brought into contact with a principal surface of a polycrystalline steel plate so that crystal orientations of the single crystal steels and are arranged in different directions, and heat treatment of the single crystal steels and the polycrystalline steel plate is performed. This causes crystal growth following the crystal orientations of the single crystal steels to occur in the polycrystalline steel plate. Then, two or more single crystal steels having different crystal orientations are formed in the polycrystalline steel plate.

A steel strip is fed and compressed between a driving roller and a compression roller to generate a stress greater than a yield stress in the steel strip and to elongate one periphery portion of the steel strip, which is on one side, more than the other periphery portion of the steel strip, which is on the other side, in a sending direction. The compression roller includes a first contact portion and a second contact portion. The second contact portion extends from an end of the first contact portion in the axial direction of the compression roller. The end of the first contact portion has an outer diameter less than an outer diameter of the second contact portion.

A protrusion forming device includes a holding portion holding an object that is be processed, a tool bit having a cutting portion capable of cutting an object held by a holding portion, and a drive portion capable of driving the tool bit. The tool bit is movable along a cut-in pathway so that the cutting portion is inserted into the object. The cutting portion is movable along a further-cut pathway so as to form a protrusion part that is cut in a linear shape and is connected to the object. The tool bit continuously contacts the protrusion part while moving along a forming pathway such that the protrusion part extends perpendicular to an outer surface of the object.

A processing machine for performing a bending operation on a workpiece includes a die, a punch movable in a first direction for pressing the workpiece against the die, a slide member movable in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a first cam device that moves the punch toward the die for deforming the workpiece when being actuated by movement of the slide member, a second cam device that moves the punch for pressing a surface of the workpiece when being actuated by movement of the slide member. The pressure angle of the second cam device is smaller than a pressure angle of the first cam device. The processing machine further includes a drive member configured to move the slide member such that the second cam device is actuated after the first cam device is actuated.
