摘要: One variation of a cooling system includes: a cooling unit including a substrate defining a thermally-conductive material and a coating defining a porous, hydrophilic material. The substrate defines: a base; a heatsink structure extending from the base; and an open network of pores extending between surfaces of the substrate. The coating extends across surfaces of the substrate and lines the open network of pores within the substrate. The heatsink structure is configured to: communicate thermal energy from a first working fluid, flowing over the heatsink structure, into the heatsink structure, to cool the first working fluid; and release thermal energy and moisture, contained in pores of the coating, into a second working fluid flowing over the heatsink structure, to cool the second working fluid and the heatsink structure.

摘要: A water block for cooling a heat-generating component has a body defining an internal fluid conduit for circulating fluid within the water block. The body defines a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet for feeding fluid into and discharging fluid from the internal fluid conduit respectively. The body includes: an external thermal transfer surface configured to be in contact with the heat-generating component; an opposite external surface on an opposite side of the body from the external thermal transfer surface; and at least one hollow fin extending from the opposite external surface, the at least one hollow fin defining at least one external fin passage, each of the at least one hollow fin defining an internal fin recess that forms part of the internal fluid conduit of the water block.

摘要: A fluid heat exchanger includes: a heat spreader plate including an intended heat generating component contact region; a plurality of microchannels for directing heat transfer fluid over the heat spreader plate, the plurality of microchannels each having a first end and an opposite end and each of the plurality of microchannels extending substantially parallel with each other microchannel and each of the plurality of microchannels having a continuous channel flow path between their first end and their opposite end; a fluid inlet opening for the plurality of microchannels and positioned between the microchannel first and opposite ends, a first fluid outlet opening from the plurality of microchannels at each of the microchannel first ends; and an opposite fluid outlet opening from the plurality of microchannels at each of the microchannel opposite ends, the fluid inlet opening and the first and opposite fluid outlet openings providing that any flow of heat transfer fluid that passes into the plurality of microchannels, flows along the full length of each of the plurality of microchannels in two directions outwardly from the fluid inlet opening. A method of cooling a heat generating component uses a fluid heat exchanger that splits a mass flow of coolant.

摘要: Devices, systems, and methods relating to providing a portable, rechargeable vessel for collecting, storing, and recovering thermal energy are provided. In one aspect, vessel includes a structure defining a well and an open-top portion at the top of the well; a phase-change material, wherein the phase-change material is disposed in the well, the phase-change material being configured to change phase at temperature in the range of 110-700° C.; one or more thermally-conductive fins interleaved in the phase-change material; and a thermally-conductive heat transfer plate disposed at and substantially covering the open-top portion of the structure, in direct thermal contact with the one or more fins, thereby allowing the transfer plate to directly exchange thermal energy with the phase change material.

摘要: Example embodiments are directed to an input/output (IO) bracket that may be used in a solid-state drive (SSD), the IO bracket comprises a faceplate and at least one heat pipe coupled to the faceplate that extends horizontally from a surface of the faceplate. The at least one heat pipe is configured to be coupled to a controller of the SSD in order to transfer heat from the controller out of the SSD. By coupling the controller to the heat pipe instead of a main heatsink, the main heatsink can efficiently dissipate heat from remaining components of the SSD.
